I see people still ARE using this thread. It should be a sticky.

 

I unstickied it last night. There was nothing malicious in it, but the amount of stickies at the top of the page was getting a bit of a chore to trawl through.

I would suggest to that those who want to access the thread do a search for it, either by title or by author.

It does irk me that I have to scroll down half a page before I get to a new story, sorry if it upsets anyone.

 

I never had a problem clicking on the last page and checking out the new lists or comments on writers. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It should be a sticky so we can check it out easily (as we have always done).

I believe everyone has the intellect to search for the thread. It doesn't need to be stickied.

 

I'm afraid I'm with ELP here - we know it's here, but how about someone new to the site who's looking for decent writing?

 

Put a link to this thread in your signature or subscribe to it if you need it to be at hand. I for one would rather allow more space for stories and such than crowd the top page. But that's just my opinion.

 

There are other things stickied at the top of the page we don't need. THIS was a needed thread. cijababe nailed it with her comment that this thread was great for new people looking for good writers and stories. The thread was here and hurting nobody and being of use. WHY would you take it upon yourself to just unsticky it? It really makes no sense. If we have to use a search to search for it, why not do the same with everything else stickied?

This thread was a great help to new people here. Why not put it back as a sticky? Please.

 

Good idea, but it depends how many threads you subscribe to - I often give up trying to find a thread I haven't used for a while.

The search function on the site is abysmal, and how can you find a thread if you don't know what it's called?

ELP - I guess we could always make a pact to give the thread a daily bump.

 

OHT also suggested a link to the thread in your sigs. It'd be even easier to find than coming to the forum - just think, you can access it from anywhere!!

 

We tried that for months until I finally convinced the powers that be that the thread should be a sticky. I guess they have been un-convinced. Too bad.

I am all for the daily bump but we shouldn't have to do it. It was just fine as a sticky. It seems like smcaaphd wants to make an issue out of her poor decision to unstick it. I am getting PM's, from her, stating that it will never again be a sticky. What's it to her? I thought her title said "Mod" not "God".

 

If EP keep ups complaining, the thread will remain at the top of the page anyway - problem sorted!!

Ejls isn't the only moderator on the boards, neither is she in sole charge of the stories forum.

 

I sure hope ejls can help us. She has always been a voice of reason. The mods are supposed to help us, not work against us.

Christs sake really? These kinds of petty arguments are why I stopped posting for so long, but at least when I left for a while they were only in the GD. Be reasonable, and accept that this is what SMC has decided to do, and trying to appeal otherwise is needless. If you really have a problem, take one of the measures that has been suggested, such as the links in sigs or bumping the thread. If you really think it has to be stickied, then ask ejls, jamie, or to be even more productive, tell the admin and try to get them involved. Honestly, I like this thread and I was glad to both make several suggestions, and to be suggested for it myself, but just insulting the smcs choice, or asking where another mod is to change the choice will do nothing but create a bad opinion of the writers for new members who do come to read this list.
