I know there are a ton of threads about shaving/not shaving. I am a male, and I had a small, but very noticeable hard lump on the underside of my dick. I thought it was an ingrown hair and didn't touch it for two weeks. It never poked through, wasn't inflamed or anything. Just a hard lump. I went (carefully) digging with a needle and tweezers to see if it was just a big pimple because it was starting to turn white. I pulled out a hair that was over an inch long. I am now scared to shave again.

Needed to tell someone. Has this happened to any of you?

 

im pretty sure.. you'll get ingrown hairs REGUARDLESS if you never shave again.

the more you shave (or at least for me) the less ingrown hairs i get

And as other people said, ingrown hairs happen. I had one on the inside of my thigh recently, and god that shit hurt.

I've never had one on my actual dick/balls/area before though.

An old boss of mine had a large bump on his face, after a doctor's visit he found out it was an ingrown hair, nearly 12 inches long! They happen everywhere, to most everyone. Be glad it was just an ingrown hair and not something deadly.

 

Don't stop shaving! If you keep it up, your skin will get used to it.

I made the conscious decision to stop tampering with my pubes when I tried to shave my balls with a beard trimmer. I knicked myself three times with the first three strokes of the buzzer. The nut wrinkles get sucked right into the teeth of that thing!

I for one am incredibly tired of shaving.
My skin is so thin and my hairs are so thick... even when I shave smooth you can still see the hairs underneath, and my skin always turns red even if I moisturize.

Too much damn work.

 

i've been shaving well over ten years and in that period of time i've only had about 4 ingrown hairs...i really do hate it when i did get them, but as far as personal hygiene is concerned its worth it...you are definitely cleaner and smell a WHOLE lot better when shaved.

 

You gotta pull the skin tight, silly. Only use the trimmers to trim though, use a normal razor to get it smooth.

 

Just trimming still keeps everything tidy, but not discomfort!

 

I hate the feeling of regrowth, so I don't shave. I buzz off my hair with a set of clippers and a close trim that is as smooth as a razor (for a few hours, at least). I never get ingrown hairs (at least I don't get them anymore since I stopped shaving my body hair), so I've been fortunate. My face and head are accustomed to the shaving, but for some reason neither area ever got razor rash or bumps. The worst I've ever gotten was peeled flesh where I pressed down too hard with my blade, but that healed in a couple of days. *shrug*

 

I just tirm the hair off mine.

 

Exfoliating will help keep that from happening.

Personally, a loofah works really well for me.
