I was wondering this today as i clicked onto my favourite porn site (here :excited

Im not sure about anywhere else, but in the UK, having sex is legal at the age of 16. Why is porn illegal to minors under the age of 18? surely masturbating to porn isn't as bad as having sex with somebody also under the age of 18?

Would like to hear your views.

Actually I didn't even know that 16 year olds were allowed to do porn in some parts of the world. Now that you have imparted me with this new factoid, I think I finally know why some girls look really young to me on the world wide web.

It's just that technically you could be a 16 year old fucking another 16 year old in the UK while watching porn and all you'd be technically doing wrong would be looking at porn while underage lol. You can make the law sound silly in some circumstances but I don't believe children should be shown too much sexual propaganda before they reach a later age, so I am with the law being 18.

I wouldn't say 16 is too young for me, but on a broad range to be able to get easy access to porn yes. Even though we know all of us were watching porn long before we were 18 lol

i wouldnt say 16 is too young either. The age of consent is 16 in most states, way less in alot of other countries( 12 in mexico). Look at the age kids are having sex these days, but they cant look at porn? Its just silly if you ask me

I think kids under 16 should be protected from porn and I support the age-requirement as it stands now among the states. I never REALLY understood sex till I was like 18 but I've been watching porn since I was 13. Had some interesting forays and detours along my journey. Was into child porn since I was looking for girls my own age (at age 13)...was also into to trying to fuck my mom and relatives. I thought about molesting my female cousin.... I was sick and I thank God I'm not into that anymore and though porn may not have made me to do all those things, it certainly didn't help.

Oh yeah, and I think section 2257 requirements should be raised so that the minimum age is 21. Teenagers in porn is not right--they have their whole lives ahead of them and they should explore the possibilities before they sell out their snatch to pervs around the world.

This is more than a decision to have sex, this is a life changing decision to have sex on camera, for money. The repercussions of such a decision are not always apparent--even for older women--but younger women should be directed to do something else in their life other than porn. they shouldn't be preyed on and should be given a 3 year pass. I'm not saying that doing porn is the worst profession there is, I'm just saying that most teen porn stars don't last 3 months in the industry and they leave broke.

 

I agree, I mean freedom is great and all but we aren't a responsible society on a whole regulation isn't bad within itself, it's when the law is more worried about enforcing stupidity than protecting the citizens that becomes bureaucratic bullshit.

 

most small businesses go broke too, so what? It isnt the sex thats the problem, its just greedy people taking advantage, and they can be found everywhere. I dont have any problem directing them to do something else, just dont create stupid laws that, in the name of some politicians morality, limit what we can do and restrict things that dont hurt anybody

i also read the powerpoint presentation by im not sure who. I was unimpressed and i was by no means convinced of much "brain difference" in the late teens and adulthood. Sure teens are still learning, people should be still learning their whole lives. 18 is a political number that is used for convenience and to avoid thinking about sexuall development untill the kids are out of the house

Here in Australia in most states the age of consent is also 16 yo as it is in the UK (yes, there are other countries in the world besides "the States"). However with the advent of the internet young people are now able to access porn much earlier than before. For example it is abundantly clear than many young kids are accessing this site for example. They don't even have to join to see the pics posted here (I just tested this without logging on). And we know that many lie about their age when they join this site.

Having said that I agree we still need community standards and having a law about what age someone can access porn helps establish that standard. Because it is not really enforceable anymore does not negate the standard or the law.

On the other hand, I remember buying my first Penthouse magazine from the local newsagency. I was desperately curious and horny at that age (actually I still am many years later ). Although I didn't look 18 yo I will be forever grateful to the news agent who sold it to me. It did me no harm, helped relieve my curiosity and frustration, and was better reading then the family medical dictionary.

if porn was just two people having sex, then yes maybe it would be sensible to have the watching porn age in the u.k as 16.

but im assuming at the age of 16 they dont want you watching midget gang bangs and people pissing on each other, play rape and BDSM videos.

just because you can legally have sex doesn't mean you will have experienced a factor of what can go on and that is shared over the internet.
