If you'd created the human race and seen what we are doing in his name, wouldn't you hide out until the dust had settled too? Maybe when we have learned to use our brains and take care of each other he will want to spend more time around us.

Kids eventualy need time away from parents. 2000 years is not that long on a cosmic scale. Maybe he is just waiting for the world you grow up. Maybe things have not gotten bad enough for him so step in.

And, on a more personal note, I love all the rationalizations Christians have to make when trying to make sense out of the nonsensical. How they attribute very human character traits to a being that is supposed to be beyond such things. It makes me smile. Partly from amusement, partly from pity.

OK, let's recap again.

God made everything.

God is all powerful, omnipresent, omnipotent, infallible and good.

People (who were made by god to a design by, well, God) are not perfect.

They believe in God despite his apparent refusal to explicitly appear to them.

They pray to God for help due to the imperfections and injustices of the world and beings that God created.

God generally doesn't take any notice. When prayers are claimed to have been answered the results are as likely to be coincidence as divine intervention but this is denied by believers.

This is explained by God being busy elsewhere DESPITE him being omnipotent and omnipresent.

Yet it is the atheists who are being unreasonable.

 

To the OP, It's because it's all just a theory.

 

That pretty much covers it.

 

I know, right! Such bastards we are, applying the thinking power of a 10 year old to this whole faith thing.

Let us also not forget that this omniscient, omnipresent god would have known from time before time the outcome of every one of our decisions, the outcome of our fate on this planet-all the wars and horrors we commit on each other-and he went ahead and did things exactly the same as we see them now.

That gets me onto one of my main questions of those with faith.

Why did God create all this? What is his divine purpose? Because an awful lot of it looks like it's not going the way an entirely good omnipotent mega being would want things, assuming that it's not actually an evil god who likes to watch things suffer.

 

Mark Twain said it was all just an experiment in morality. Which begs the question, why would God need to conduct experiments?

He also said The Flood was the only truly enlightened idea God ever had...but he couldn't stick to his principles and let a few people escape, knowing they were doomed to go bad again.
