What Is The General Consensus Of The Transgendered In Your Community (Believe It Or Not, We Are Everywhere)? Does One Need To Feel Ostracized Because We Are Someone Who Deems We Are A Living A Lie, Being Trapped Inside A body We Don't Believe We Should Have Been Born In/With? I Ask Because I Am Confused With Which Path I Should Take. I Wont Go Into Details, But I Am In The Middle Of S.R.S (Sexual Reconstructive Surgery) And Am Having Second Thoughts About Completing It. It's Almost Like Having the Best of Both Worlds. Sorry For Wasting Everyone's Valuable Time, And Hope I Don't Catch Hell For Posting In The Wrong Section, I wasn't Sure Where To Start This Thread And It Seems The Most Intelligent Members Reside Here In General Discussion And Hope I Can Recieve Some Insights. Any Comments Will Be Appreciated, Be They Positive Or Be They Negative.

If one is `a woman trapped in a man's body'; then if it(surgury) prevents someone from committing `psychosexual suicide' I am all for their getting an operation(s) for their own well being. More power to them!

I personally don't mind transgenders so long as they don't pop up in unexpected places, such as my bed. Their choice is their choice. Just try to remain constant because the switching thing is a bit unsettling.

And I apologize, but do you have to capitalize every word? It takes more effort to type and it makes it harder to read...

BArbaric Swan, this sometimes happens, yes I am sure at the time she was completely sure, after all, you can't just waltz in and have your balls removed.
You have to have documentation from psychos that you really are real with your intention to transition.

Some men are very angry that they can't just have this done when they want it.

Some transmen are very angry that they can't just have mastectomy and chest reconstruction without having to have the psycho documentation.

It's like WE don't own our bodies, the SYSTEM does.

 

...though on this forum, it's more likely that the boys will be boys, and many of the girls will be boys, too...

well in my eyes, i'm seeing this post and understanding exactly why those systems are in place!

it's expensive (in britain, the nhs may have to fork out for it), it's time consuming, it involves scaplels to the bloody genitals! and then some people waltz out in the middle and change their little minds...

you see the problem for the health service? nah, it SHOULD be hard to get gender reassignment surgery, for the reasons above: money, time, knife to the genitals... it's a serious series of operations.

i would never have any sort of work done to my genitals before being ABSOLUTELY sure i'd stay the course and not want to turn back later. the op seems like a bit of a joke to me for mindlessly getting surgery they didn't know they'd finish.

 

I find people getting bent out of a shape over a sock quite funny.

Be careful. I knew two men who completed their surgery. Both ended their lives about a year afterwards. They had been through all the psych stuff too.
Be sure you have a hell of a lot of support.

 

I don't care what a person wants to do with their body or their reasonings for doing so, but I would not want to date a woman who was previously a man. They're still born male and despite aggressive surgeries and hormone treatments, biologically, they are still male.

Wrong Shake, but you can have your own opinion. We have female brains and male bodies until we modify them. I know of several that have married men who know about their history.

I'm with Shake on this one. I can't imagine dating a man who's previously been a woman. Even if it's "only" the body that was female. I can't even explain why, that's just the way it is.
