Anyone wanna pick the Penguins in 5? I almost felt sorry for the Red Wings, because they had to play in Detroit. I'm beginning their fans are as shitty as Washington fans.

I tend to not talk in threads like this due to folks like yourself who put words in other people's mouths or just refuse to look at the stats or the accomplishments.

I am always amazed at this "Your players are shit", "The (fill in city/team) fans are shit" talk.

It happens ALL the time.

I am a sports fan and promoting your team is fine----emphasizing the qualities of the players, etc. Why does everyone have to concentrate on badmouthing the OTHER team?


I am rooting for the Wings this time, because I prefer them to the Penguins. BOTH teams have quality players, give great efforts, and, like all teams that make it to the finals in any sport in any year, have had a bit more luck than at least two or three other teams that could have made it as well.

I hope for a good series.

Thank you, Umpire! I probably overdid it in the citoes comparison. I'm sure both teams had plenty of luck, but it looks to me like both teams also earned their luck through hard play and skillful coaching.

The Wings are despised by many for the same reason the N Y Yankees are despised by baseball fans, and the Dallas Cowboys are despised by football fans; too many good years, accompanied by too much cock crowing.

Frankly, I can't wait until Pittsburgh is absolutely loathed by hockey and football fans from everywhere else!

I somewhat agree with you but I have to say that, being from Detroit the wings don't do any cock crowing its just that they are one of the original 6 that have a very large fan base all over the country, which has been having a lot of success over that last 10-15 years. After the days of Gordie Howe the Wings' sucked for 42 years. But I have to say that I am A STEELERS fan since '73 the ONLY team to win the SuperBowl 6 times.

Don't feel bad because they play in Detroit. Downtown Detroit is actually pretty nice! It's on the outer edge of the city where it starts to turn bad. And the fans are passionate! When other folks come to town we treat them with respect and it's all in fun! And I really enjoyed hanging out with the Pens fans last year. Great group of folks and we had a great time and I look forward to it again this year! Go Wings!!!! (not like I can root for the Lions!!!)
