Now I can disagree with those people naming their kids like that, but where I have an issue is the fact that child services is using that as an excuse to remove the kids from the home. I'm sorry naming your kids like that as much as I disagree with it, isn't child abuse. The kids need to be returned to their parents, as sick and twisted as they are.

The USA is very liberal about what you name your child. Anything goes except for profanity, I think. I have never met anyone officially named "Mother Fucker" Smith, or whatever.

 

I really don't think the state should have a lot of say in naming a child, but I would say that it might be a good idea for the registrar of births (or whatever title) to be allowed to veto names that are obscene or deliberately provocative. Adolf is not such a name, Adolph Hitler certainly is. I'd be suspicious of a neighbor who named his Pit Bull dog that.

 

Bosox, I am in total agreement with you for a change on this one. I was hoping there might be a few more posters who saw the injustice in this outrageous action, irrespective of whether they agree with the choice in children's names or not.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a relative of the family claiming that the only reason for taking the children was the name? You never know what else was happening.

Nope, you are correct. I don't know the full facts and can only argue from what has been presented, thus that is what I am arguing.If other reasons come to light, then I will debate those, until then ...

For all I know they could be the most evil, murdering, child abusing parents in the world, but I don't know that! I think they must have some pretty bizarre beliefs, according to my way of looking at things, for surely they must be aware of the implications of naming their children as such.

 

I'll happily argue that it is. Giving your child a name like that is a passport to a lifetime of emotional trauma, even ignoring the amount of bullying the kid is likely to get from pre-school until the day he dies, or changes it by deed-poll.

I have no qualms about taking a child away from anyone who thinks this name is a good idea.

So would you also agree with the situation in Australia that I highlighted above? Whereby the Australian government removed children from the parents of mixed race and placed them in "white, civilised" families up until the 1980s as well? I'm sure they had a strong belief that they were doing the right thing too!!!!!

 

I dunno. One of the reasons I'm a little sketchy of the parents is the claim that they just picked the names out of a name book. I mean, I can see picking "Adolph Hitler" entirely at random, stranger things have happened. But what sort of baby book suggests "AryanNation" as a name? Though yeah, if there isn't any signs of abuse actually present, then Child services has no actual case to justify taking the kids.

I agree. You are allowed to name your kid whatever you want and no country should interfere with that especially in America. And you shouldn't have your kids taken away because you gave them a name that people don't like or accept. If there is evidence that they are being abused then yes they should be removed from the home but Child Services or the judicial system can't change the legal name of a child that was given to them by their parents, only the parents can legally change their child's name. Yet once the child reaches the age of 18 they can legally change their name.

This argument holds zero water. They looked through baby books and coincidentally found names for all three of their children that are associated with the same atrocity? And they had no filter that said this is a bad idea? Bullcrap. On the other hand, this is America and they don't actually have to make this argument. A crappy name is not abuse. If it was they would have to arrest half of Hollywood. I mean seriously, Jason Lee from 'My Name is Earl" named his kid Pilot Inspektor. These parents sound like they are probably complete dumbasses, but we let complete dumbasses raise their little dumbass offspring all the time. Somebody overstepped on this.
