  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

What do you pay for health care?

I realise this seems an Americans only debate at the moment but I am curious, those of you paying health care premuims, what amount are you paying.

I pay about €250 per month and that is pretty comprehensive for my self, my wife and child.

    Take care

I don't know what your price equates to in US dollars, but if the values are even close then you're paying a lot less than what I am paying just for myself. And my cost would probably double or more if I had to have my wife and kids on my insurance.

    Premiums

Its about 1.5 dollars to the euro at the moment so that's about 375 dollars. I do not know whether the Dutch government subsidizes the premiums but I do know they are means tested to a certain degree although the cheaper cover is less comprehensive.

I can also imagine that are economies possible in what is one of the most overcrowded countries in the world.

What I do like is that no matter what the standard of cover you have, we all end up in the same facilities.

Here is something else that the Democrats do, just as an advertisement.

DNC Uses Flag Desecration Video to Raise Funds

As a heart monitor beeps ominously in the background, a graffiti artist paints over the Stars and Stripes with phrases criticizing opposition to the Democratic legislation, including 'profit over life' and the crossed-out words 'death panel.' The whole flag is eventually smeared with paint and blacked out

Isn't that just a beautiful site?:(

Support Health Care Reform Without the 'Public Option'?

Independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman says he'll join Republicans to filibuster against the so-called "public option," adding that he thought Congress should set aside the idea and revisit it in a few years if other reforms don't work. Would you support health care reform legislation if it did not contain the government-run insurance option?

Absolutely. Congress should stick to legislating laws and regulations, and let the free-market system work. 19% (17,171 votes)
Probably. I’m still unsure whether reforms will cut my medical bills, but something has to be done. 15% (13,830 votes)
No. The current health care system works fine. Leave it alone and let the free-market system work. 64% (58,701 votes)

That's a very interesting poll, in that not one of the choices reflects my point of view. What happens if you add the following option:

Probably not. A reform without the public option does too little to ensure competition and lower costs. A bad bill is worse than no bill at all.

That's a far cry from saying that the current system is just dandy. My point is that whoever published that poll has a flagrant and obvious bias.

In his most recent book, Real Education: Four Simple Truths for Bringing American Schools Back to Reality, Charles Murray argues that the public schools are doing about as well as they can with what they have to work with.

In an article in American Conservative that I read several years ago, and unfortunately cannot find, an author argued that those who argue that American public schools perform less well now than they used to make improper comparisons.

No one but a huckster for Charles Atlas claims that a sickly "90 pound weakling" can become an award winning athlete. Nevertheless, we keep expecting public schools to turn nearly everyone into high achieving professionals.

Not true. I see the shortcomings. I just don't think dismantling the public school system is the right solution. You guys seem to want to replace it with something worse. And it's eerily similar to the conservative answer to health care reform: to make good education available only to people who have lots of money.

The Government didn't do that, really. If a "government' could do that socialism would be a success even when it ran out of other peoples money.
Explain the success of the USSR?

No one in the United States with any prominence is advocating the Soviet system. No one has since the Great Depression. Even then, they were few.

Explain the success of the Scandinavian countries. By many criteria they have a higher standard of living than we do.
