The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I thought they would do just that, however if you put yourself in the shoes of the post war leaders in both England and the US, you would recognize the trend of USSR intervention in former friends business.

The ties to the USSR scared the shit out of them, if they wound up controlling the oil of the Middle East, it would have reeked havoc on the West.

Whether or not this would have happened is academic, the prevailing thinking was that it most likely would.

Try to convince Iranians that those were legitimate reasons for the United States and Great Britain to intervene in their internal affairs.

Republicans blame Jimmy Carter for the gasoline lines and inflation of 1980. Those were caused by the Iranian Revolution, which in turn was caused by the CIA coup in 1953. In Iran and in Vietnam President Eisenhower made decisions that did not harm him, but they destroyed the presidencies of two Democrat Presidents. It is fortunate that the War in Vietnam also destroyed Nixon's presidency. It is unfortunate that the Iran Contra scandal did not destroy Reagan's.

I like how you back up the validity of your statement by claiming your aunt has balls which is just as valid as saying Carter and Clinton were responsible for 9/11.

I'm going to remember this because I'm betting Liberman actually makes a fool of you.

And I think the reasons for disagreeing with something that is false is obvious.

Let's see, we've got the US military, NASA, Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Nuclear power agency, National Weather Bureau just to name a few things Government is involved with that works damn well.

In the meantime we've got a whole financial industry and a whole stock and commodities and auto industry that blew it so bad they collapsed under their own mismanagement.

I'd say pretty clearly our government works better than our "free" ,market does.

There are scores of examples where insurance companies have wrongly denied claims and killed people doing it. There are also insurance insiders that have explained in great detail that they go to every length possible to deny benefits that the insured is entitled to.

Face it tenguy the free market has not worked when it comes to either health care of health care insurance.

I really don't know how you can be so totally ignorant of the real history of the US prtndr. Simple ignorance wouldn't explain it. It has to be purposeful self delusion.

Considering your absolute dismal performance when it comes to predicting anything I find this most encouraging.

I forgot to add this. Thanks to Rasmussen's very skewed poll results when they are added into pollster they drag the average downn.

Here's another look at polls that shows more than half the people in this country support the public insurance option.

Excuse me. How did "the discovery of oil in the lands that were within the borders of Iran" lead to an oil shortage in the United States? stumbler knows more about oil and oil politics than either of us. I would like for him to respond to your assertion that the Iranian Revolution of 1979 was irrelevant to the bad economy in the United States in 1980.

There was no possible way for the USSR to control the oil in the Middle East and there was no credible threat of even Iran going to the Soviets. The motivation was protecting British and US business interests in Iran, coupled with the US seeing an opportunity to undercut the British.

Prior to the coup the CIA orchestrated the UK controlled 75% of the oil. After the coup they split it 50/50 with American companies getting most the drilling and service contracts.

It was not completely irrelevant but at the same time it had very little impact because there never was an oil shortage and the OPEC oil embargo which was actually prompted by the US blind support of Israel in reality lasted all of two weeks.

The energy shortage, oil shortage and gasoline shortage in the US was completely a domestic fraud on the part of US oil companies because congress had originally said no to the Alaskan Pipeline and slapped wind fall profit taxes on the major oil companies.

The oil companies simply stopped refining oil and created the gasoline shortage which scared the American public so bad they demanded the government give the oil companies everything they wanted. And the government did. Then US companies not only got what they wanted they suddenly became international companies so it would be next to impossible to tax them again.

30 years later the oil companies are still benefiting from that and still controlling the energy debate and brainwashing the American public.

If oil had not been discovered, Iran would never have been on the playing field. So they started it.

As far as the Iranian students, read all about it:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979_energy_crisis

Did you not know that there was an oil shortage, brought about by Iran in 1979?

I just read your link, and thank you for it. The relationship between the Iranian Revolution and the oil shortage of 1980 is more complex than the relationship between the OPEC oil boycott following the Yom Kipper War of 1973, and the recession of 1974. Nevertheless, it is clear that if there had been no Iranian Revolution, there would have been much less of an oil shortage.

stumbler has said that the oil shortage in the United States was largely manufactured by the U.S. oil companies.

The oil shortage was not Carter's fault, but he was blamed for it and the inflation of 1980, which happened because of it. Carter and the economic policies of John Maynard Keynes were blamed for the inflation. Nevertheless, Keynesian economics was designed to respond to the very different economic situation of the Great Depression. Back then the problem was deflation, not inflation. Also, the Great Depression was not caused by the shortage of a natural resource essential to the U.S. economy. During the 1930's the United States was an oil exporting country.

No I dont,,just most of what the government does. I think that they are over stepping and getting involved in things that they have no business being involved in.

Ace then maybe you can tell me what the government is involved in now that they haven't been since nearly the beginning of this nation

For the economic free fall during the Carter presidency. In 1980 tenguy? In a war that the US and the Reagan administration helped instigate and supported Iraq. There was no oil production coming to the US from Iran and hadn't been since the revolution. Iraq's oil production was cut in the beginning but dispite the war they managed to constantly build on the oil infrastructure. Besides when our sweetheart deals have been with Saudi Arbia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emeriates we've always had access to 70% of the oil in the Middle East.

So no when you look at the price of oil in this chart it won't follow your wars and supply and demand. But what it does follow is which party is in control. When the Republicans are in control oil prices sky rocket and when democrats get in they fall no matter what's happening in the world.

    http://inflationdata.com/inflation/inflation_Rate/Historical_Oil_Prices_Table.asp

By the way another thing that pisses me off is when they talk about oil prices you'll always see them try to hide behind prices they say are adjusted for inflation so they don't look so bad. What pisses me off is inflation starts at the gas pump. So they are trying to adjust the price to what they caused.

    Well, maybe not this year....

Harry bows to the reality that Obamacare is dead in the water:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/11/03/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5513630.shtml

and the longer it drags on, the more opposition grows. I told you months ago, folks, you can wrap up this thread. Obamacare will never pass. Nothing left to decide but who's to blame - congress or the white house, both of which are completely controlled by democrats.

Started in 1798 providing government health care for seamen.
    http://www.hhs.gov/about/hhshist.html

Started in the great depression or 1970 is you want with the Federal reserve bailout of the Penn Central Railroad.

And before that Ace the transcontinental railroads wouldn't even have been built if our government had not gotten involved.

    http://www.propublica.org/special/government-bailouts

They go back to at least the great depression or even further if you count the idea of public education Ace.

Well I'll tell you Ace you're going to have to show me where Barack Obama has altered the constitution. I'll also have to ask you were you've been for the past eight years when Bush and the boys gutted the constitutional protections I've always cherished.

And I'll go even further than that. Where in the constitution does it say that someone has the right to make me piss in a jar in order to have a job.

I think the Republic is a lot safer and stronger now than it's been for the past eight years Ace.

The point is Ace our government has been involved and concerned with health care for the people of this nation from the beginning.

And again Ace government involvement is nothing new.

No but you consistently seem to disparage our government even when I think it does pretty good all things considered.

Ace where the hell did you think the saying came from that if you steal a horse they'll hang you but if you steal a railroad they'll make you a senator?

But here's the deal. I don't know how you take greed and corruption out of people and I don't know how you make a government out of anything else but people. That being said even with the corruption the transcontinental railroad helped propel this nation to new levels of greatness and that was especially true for businesses. Now you love businesses don't you?

I'll never believe that. I remember the days when senior citizens were freezing to death in their homes and eating pet food to survive. I remember the days when there was real pain and suffering for the poor and I don't want to go back there.

But Ace as far as solving the country's problems well maybe we'll never do that. But this nation's greatest prosperity and standard of living not to mention our accomplishments came after entitlements. So I don't think they are what's causing the problems.

Oh Christ on a crutch Ace. That's no threat to anyone. There's lots of people who think the constitution could or should be amended and maybe they're right. But at least they were talking about doing it legally not just by ignoring it or trying to circumvent it.

Bullshit. The Clinton Health care reform was stopped dead in its tracks by the insurance companies.

And I'll tell you, to me if they get some kind of health care reform passed now it will be the first time in my observation that money didn't win out over the people.

No problem Ace. President Bush did more to try and circumvent, ignore and violate the constitution more than any president in modern history.

    http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/04/30/bush_challenges_hundreds_of_laws/

    http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1037317

No it was a fucking federal wink from none other than Ronald Dick Head Fucking Reagan when they kicked off the war on drugs and turned US industry into an extension of an unofficial national police force.

And hell they could get away with it because they also shipped all the jobs overseas so there weren't enough to go around anyway.

Because its the truth Ace. And you don't have to believe it. In fact maybe you just can't but it does not make it any less true,
