And how many die because they recieve inadequate care in european hospitals, or are misdiagnosed by poorly paid and uncaring state employees? How many are just allowed to die because it's too expensive to treat them? How many will die if the incentive for development of new medical technologies goes away because government policy has made it unprofitable? You won't see those figures because they don't fit the socialist story line.

No thanks. I'll take my chances on my own. Government intervention always causes more problems than it cures. You socialists want to give away your freedom, fine, there are countries you can go to that will be happy to have you. Try England - they even speak somewhat the same language. Me, I'll stay here, vote to keep the Government as far out of my life as I can, and make my own way. That's the ultimate freedom, embodied in the US constitution and in no other document in the world - the freedom to be left alone and make my own way as I choose. I don't trust anybody who tells me they're taking away my freedom, but it's for my own good.

 

The United States always fights for freedom. A synonym for "freedom" is "oil."

 

It is certainly true that U.S. military intervention in the affairs of other countries "always causes more problems than it cures." In the United States conservatives want the U.S. government to leave them alone, but they think the U.S. government has the right to tell people in the third world what to do, and to kill them if they disobey.

 

I won't see those figures because they are not true. If universal health care is such a failure, why is there no popular demand in countries that have it to return to a private system? I have posted polls taken by Harris that demonstrate that of ten countries, with the other nine having socialized medicine, the U.S. system is the most popular. Something like ninety percent of Canadians prefer their system, and over half want it to be expanded.

I'm not sure why we can't go to a similar system. I know several European countries have this.

Stop forcing employers to pay for insurance (a government inflated industry) and just have that money go directly to a federal plan and allow those who want better to pay extra for it.
