  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

"The word sic may be used to...highlight an error, sometimes for the purpose of ridicule."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sic

Starting two expensive wars while cutting taxes was grotesquely fiscally irresponsible. When the United States entered World War II, taxes were increased. The top tax rate rose to 88%. If Democrats share any responsibility is that they made it easier for poor people to own their own homes. Republicans made it easier for rich people to become richer.

I would say it is because of the Republican Scare Tatics...

The falsehood-peddling began at the top, with Minority Leader John Boehner:

"If you're a Medicare Advantage enrollee . . . the Congressional Budget Office says that 80 percent of them are going to lose their Medicare Advantage."

Not true. The CBO hasn't said anything of the sort. Boehner's office acknowledges that he misspoke: He meant to cite a study from the Medicare actuary estimating that projected enrollment would be down by 64 percent -- if the cuts took effect. Choosing not to enroll in Medicare Advantage is different from "losing" it.

    But Boehner wasn't alone.

Kentucky Republican Brett Guthrie: "The bill raises taxes for just about everyone."

Not true. The bill imposes a surtax on the top 0.3 percent of households, individuals making more than $500,000 a year and couples making more than $1 million.

Georgia Republican Tom Price: "This bill, on Page 733, empowers the Washington bureaucracy to deny lifesaving patient care if it costs too much."

Not true. The bill sets up a Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research "in order to identify the manner in which diseases, disorders, and other health conditions can most effectively and appropriately be prevented, diagnosed, treated, and managed clinically."

Are Republicans against figuring out what works? There's nothing in there about cost, and certainly nothing about denying "lifesaving patient care."

Price, again: "This bill, on Page 94, will make it illegal for any American to obtain health care not approved by Washington."

Not true. The vast majority of Americans get their insurance through their employers. The bill envisions setting minimum federal standards for such insurance, in part to determine who is eligible to buy coverage through the newly created insurance exchanges. This is hardly tantamount to making it "illegal" to obtain "health care" without Washington's approval.

Michigan Republican Dave Camp: "Americans could face five years in jail if they don't comply with the bill's demands to buy approved health insurance."

Not true. The bill requires people to obtain insurance or, with some hardship exceptions, pay a fine. No one is being jailed for being uninsured. People who intentionally evade paying the fine could, in theory, be prosecuted -- just like others who cheat on their taxes.

California Republican Buck McKeon: "I offered two amendments to try to improve this bill -- one to require members of Congress to enroll in the public option like we're going to require all of you to do."

Not true. No one is required to enroll in the public option. In fact, most people won't even be eligible to enroll in the public option or other plans available through the exchanges.

Florida Republican Ginny Brown-Waite: "The president's own economic advisers have said that this bill will kill 5.5 million jobs."

Not true. Christina Romer, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, has estimated that the bill would increase economic growth and add jobs. Republicans misuse Romer's previous economic research on the impact of tax increases to produce the phony 5.5 million number.

You have to wonder: Are the Republican arguments against the bill so weak that they have to resort to these misrepresentations and distortions?

I believe the Lies could be considered.....Anti-American

Taxes are not capital as it is not a profit. Plain and simple. You are reaching very far to keep your theory of the Police and Fire Department as socialist after i have proven time and time again that you are wrong. You didnt take the time to read the link i posted or you would understand. Also, to be truley socialist the federal government would need to have a profit from the Police and Fire Department. I didnt know there was profit in catching a criminal and imprisoning.... Its all explained in my link.

Tenguy, it doesn't bother you either that what you're saying here is not actually based in reality. There is no proposal to have "socialized medicine" in the US. Once again you base all this on something that does not exist. And that seems OK to you?

The majority party in office right now is passing lots and lots of things in many cases with perhaps one or two republican votes and nothing but obstructionism, misinformation and misrepresentations, partisan attacks and bickering from the rest oif the Republican party. And I say again that is unconscionable when the problems are this serious and the hazards so high.

I like to repeat arguments that haven't been refuted. The truth remains the truth, even when it is ignored by those who find it inconsistent with their prejudices.

Now, now, roadtoad that's not what's obvious is it? No, what's obvious is that you only "know" what you've been fed even if its not true or even possible.

Who said anything about a stable economy? Certainly not President Obama and the Democrats. They've said from beginning that this recession is deep and wide and hopefully they can stop the free fall before it turns into a depression but its going to be a long hard haul back to a strong stable economy.

But I will tell you again. I'm very thankful that Barack Obama is our president and commander in chief.

Stumbler I will say that you too sound alot like a broken record basically calling people brainwashed as you have done to me. The fact remains that people are intitled to their opinions and instead of basicaly calling them brainwashed either ignore their comments or refute them. Though this guy roadtoad shouldnt have just jumped in and talked out his ass without adding anything of substance to this conversation. :)

Too numerous to mention, you have not once admitted to reading a refuting post and acknowledge its merit.

On the other hand many of us have done just that, we learn from one another.

In every post on the subject since last August, I stated that I would vote for Obama over McCain, last week you finally read what I posted and voiced surprise on my vote. You do not pay attention to what others write, you seem too eager to post another irrelevant retreaded post.

You make a good point about me not knowing that you voted for Obama. I was aware that you claimed to be a conservative, rather than a Republican.

You keep claiming that I am a Communist despite my denials. I have liked the members of the CPUSA that I have known. Unless you either call me a Democrat or a social democrat, you are name calling. I have not called you a Nazi, a fascist, or even a racist.

However, I am unaware that I have been refuted in a factual assertion I have made. I have nearly always documented my assertions.

As I have said many times before, you are the person that you present to others.

You come in here espousing socialist ideals, you become offended if someone criticizes the Socialist states, you have openly criticized past anti-communist agendas, you have openly criticized those who disparage the USSR role in WWII, you recently complained that a post was anti-Soviet propaganda. You seem to blind to the atrocities committed by the USSR against her own people and the people of the Eastern European nations who were under her thumb for decades.

So if I call you a communist or a socialist, forgive me, I call 'em like I see 'em.

I am aware of the atrocities committed by the Soviet government. I am also aware of the achievements of that government, especially during the Second World War. I do not idealize the USSR. I do respect the social democracies of Western Europe and the British Commonwealth. I want the United States to become more like them.

Why do you chose to praise a regime that slaughtered millions of their own people, civilians and military alike.

It has been well documented that the tactics used by the USSR against the Germans was to sent endless hordes of young and old men, virtually unarmed, against Panzer divisions. All to get to Berlin first, all to get the prize of Eastern Europe.

    You are deeply deluded.

An interesting article from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. It explains the rise in medical tourism for Canadians who are frustrated with the waiting times for procedures which are readily available in the US and elsewhere. One of the reasons for our high cost of health care is the price we pay to have these professionals and their facilities at the waiting.

This begs answers to question, why does Canada not have them as well. The answer seems to be, they can not afford them, that they would bankrupt the countries health care system. So to those who think the US can afford to emulate the Canadian system, how would our public system be able to absorb this cost?

The following are the opening paragraphs from the article at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2231416/

No, you have another fact wrong as well. Canada has a smaller population and, therfore, does not have as medical specialists as the USA. The Canadian Government allows their citizens to travel to the USA when they need to see a specialist for this reason.
