It's quite simple magpie......They run on credit and just service the debt each month....just like you or I might pay the minimum demanded by a credit card company.

They rely on success, especially in the Champions League, to keep the money coming in.

Failure to qualify for that competition for just one year might effectively cause them to go bust.

If they keep adding to there debt in the manner they're doing now and when the inevitable happens and their success bubble bursts as oneday it will definately do then it's bye bye Man U........just another unsuccessful business sending a sports giant into the abyss and leaving their loyal supporters scratching their heads to why......As much as one dislikes Man U, it's always the humble supporter that feels more pain.

 

The blame lies with the Glazier family, It seems they are using MU assets to service their debts, but the MU Supporters Trust are trying to buy them out.

Funny you should say that! I remember the day we were relegated from the premiereship, they lost at WBA but the Pompey fans there were going mad 'cos we went down. I vowed then...one day revenge will be ours!

I agree with the bit about the humble supporter.....but Man U is actually a global brand as much as it is a football club these days.

Their past success, plus the financial strength of the brand gives them a wholly unfair advantage. I mean......what kind of business can go out and spend 30 million plus on one piece of equipment (Dimitar Berbatov) whilst still in debt to the tune of 3/4 of a billion quid?

Mind you....I don't think he is worth a quarter of that...even at today's crazy prices!!

I also agree that their bubble will burst...sooner or later.....and it seems the Glazer family are expediting that event!!

Considering what the Pompey fans must be going through you cannot begrudge them a bit of cup glory now that the game is over. From what I saw you were well beaten and I thought Hart was at fault for one of the goals.

Consider this, I once saw City go out of the cup to Halifax Town.
