Well that sucked ... we signed Favre to WIN games for us in the fourth quarter, not toss them away.

I didn't see the TD-nullified-for-tripping play, just before the interception - but the commentators thought it was a duff call. Were they right?

 

It probably was, but that's the breaks of the game. In the long run, the breaks tend to even out.

 

True. And we had a chance to win the game anyway, if the last pass hadn't gone astray, so I ain't gonna blame the officials for losing it.

What the hell is "defensive delay of game?" Never heard of that one!

 

Nor have I!

My son who watches more football than I, and watches it more closely, says he never heard of it either. The announcers said it had been a long time since they had heard it called, also. I guess maybe the defense can somehow do something to delay the game, but I'll be darned if I know what it was.
By the way, you may or may not have an easy run in the NFC, but it looks like the Steelers have a real threat in their own division with Cincinatti refusing to bungle, and the cheating Patriots are back in the Eastern Division.

 

I saw it called when players wouldn't let the offensive players at the bottom of the pile get up and get to the huddle. It was either last week or the week before.

 

That actually would make sense, although I'd have called that a 15-yard hike for unsportsmanlike conduct if I were in charge.

Apparently, in this case, it was "trying to induce a false start in the offense" by monkeying about directly in front of the line of scrimmage. I thought that was allowed, but apparently there are limits.

 

The Steelers are at least looking good after a dodgy start. I'm not overly worried that we lost the game - we could easily have won it, and there aren't many stronger teams about. Take out a fumble and a muffed catch and we'd have won by a comfortable-looking margin, instead of losing by one.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the two meet again in the Super Bowl, though the Saints might have something to say about that.

Beats me. If it's deemed to be part of a legitimate defensive move (like changing your position), it's okay - if not, then it draws this flag. Apparently.

The commentators did say that, when it's called for that, it's usually glaringly obvious, and this one wasnt. Short of doing star-jumps in front of the Centre, I don't really see what could warrant the flag!

 

I do like the Vikings, and I do hope they make it to the Super Bowl and play the Steelers.
