I know it must be really difficult for you to admit that these programs benefit anyone, but why don't you ask your average low-income senior citizen whether they want Social Security and Medicare eliminated? THEY think it benefits them...and isn't that pretty much the proof of the pudding?

 

It benefits them because they paid for it, not because the government pays them. Of course they don't want something eliminated that they paid for. Ask them if they would rather have the money they paid in over a lifetime with the interest in one lump sum. The only difficult thing around here is your ability to acknowledge the government taking my money for a lifetime and then dolling it out with a spoon at the end is a benefit to them, not me. Go chase your tail darling, I know the government has you trained that way,

 

only their peers.

 

The government doesn't pay for anything. WE pay for everything. When those people paid into Social Security and Medicare, they were paying for the benefits received by an older generation.

But I'm glad to hear you admit that you're opposed to those programs. Most conservatives are in denial about it, or don't want anyone to know that that's where they come down on the issue. I look forward to the next Republican presidential candidate running on that platform.

First, L4AW1, a statement you made earlier really bothers me. Medicare is q lot more than a Band Aid and a pill. Depending on which parts of the program a recipient opts for, it is fantastic insurance comparatively speaking. There is no "band aid and a pill". That's reserved for the people who have no insurance.

Second, if we're going to talk about government programs that benefit the poor I think Medicaid, WIC, and TANF are much better examples.

I am not a member of either party, but rather a Libertarian... and yes, I do vote that way, regardless of how "pointless" it is... I choose NOT to support the lesser evil. I tend to agree more with democrats on some issues, mostly social ones, and republicans have some decent ideas economically, but MOST politicians are out to serve their own interests. I chose the Libertarian party because they support personal freedoms, and ultimately that's all I want... to be free to do as I like with my own life, as long as I'm not hurting anyone. Legalize weed, anyone?
