I would love to be an inventor.

I'd invent a way to slap people through standard TCP/IP.

I own my own business doing exactly what I want. It's both a job and a hobby for me. I've developed enough of a reputation among my peers that I now get regular invites as a speaker (I'm giving a webinar on industry best practices this week sponsored by another firm). The hours are long, and I'm still building, so not exactly a dot com billionaire lifestyle here, but I love every second of it. The question I have is, why don't more people actually do their dream jobs? Sure, some fantasies (pro athlete, movie star) are out of reach to most, but if you are semi realistic and have a passion for something, you should be able to at least get close and create a real life space for yourself in your dream realm.

Growing up I always watched wrestling and it is my dream to maybe one day become a WWE Wrestler! Watch out John Cena because I am going to take that world title away from u ! :excited:

 

Too few people give you firefighters the respect you deserve.

In my business, I used to hire off-duty firefighters as installers. At any one time we had a dozen working for us, over the course of 20 years perhaps 100 or more. With few exceptions, I found them to be good employees, dedicated to doing a good job and highly dependable.

What I respected them more for, was their dedication to their job a a firefighter. All were generally high spirited and loved a good joke, but they became deadly serious when talking about the actual jobs they did in trying to save lives and property.

Thank you crazyazaindian, you should be very proud of your profession.

 

thank you tenguy i was a volly for years till my dept went payed then was merged into the city dept but i know what you was talking about is true and after 30 years im about ready to give it up as my body takes alot longer to heal from the minor things and allthough ill still teach im going to give up firefighting january 1st

I have my dream job.

I work when I want to, doing what I love to do. Restoring the carpentry on boats. Make enough at it to keep me doing my favorite hobby, boating.

Plus my wife makes a shitload of money doing what she loves to do.

 

Sometimes we choose our paths when we are young, we don't know what we would like to do. We do what is expected. By then, you have a profession established and are making money to pay the bills. That's when fear of the unknow kicks in - can I afford to change careers, still pay the bills, and start brand new in a world where I am not known.

My ideal job? I guess I would want to be able to write.
