I'll go first:

First it started with a 3 week long cold, and ended with an ear infection and perforated eardrum.
Now it's your turn!

 

I've had the flu for three weeks, been getting sick daily for two weeks, went to the doctors this morning he put me on antibiotics and sent me off for blood tests

 

Antibiotics rarely work though, what did he put you on?

Erm, where do i start...

Last April i was playing paintball, i ended up with my leg up by my head and major damage to my knee, ACL complete rupture and some other bits... so i had surgery in August i think, early August ( I was looking after my 3year old son all this time, on one leg ). In September i was making progress, back on both legs and allowed to drive, September the 30th at approx 8:45 i crashed my car ( a beautiful 1955 Oval Window Ragtop Beetle) at approx 50MPH. I was ejected from the car, through the windscreen and landed on the road...ouch.
Don't remember the accident, the first thing i remember is waking up on the road feeling cold, asking for my mobile so i could call my missus... i did, i told her "i've been in a car crash" and promptly passed out again...oops. Next call she got was from a copper who told her i was covered in blood and being airlifted to hospital (He told her the wrong hospital to start with and had to ring back 5minutes later) when asked how bad i was he replied "We aren't sure, he's covered in blood". Magic, nice one...
Nextthing i remember i was on a stretcher bumping down the road towards a helicopter, the crew did the usual try and chat to you thingy, asking what i did for a living, "fix helicopters" i said... "oh, well while you are here..." ha bloody ha you git.
Next i was in the hospital, doors opened and in flew the missus "YOU STUPID BASTARD!" she said, "you scared the shit out of me" then she cried, so did i.
X-rayed and no broken bones, 3 seperate people telling me i should be dead, apparently i was whistling during the x-ray, the male nurse told me i must be bionic, i shouldn't be alive, let alone happy and whistling.
Female nurse told me i had "strong shoulders", my missus laughed as i was flirting with her, i can faintly remember a blond nurse, nothing else.
I got 18 stitches in my foot, my head glued together and 30minutes later i was wheeled out the hospital in a wheelchair.

Come December i was a wreck, my ex-girlfriend was recalled from a tour in the Falkland Islands as i was close to breakdown, looking after my son alone was hard, i could hardly walk but i got him to nursery every mornin, alone. Mid December i was back in my room on camp wasting away.

January 09 i was sent on a rehabilitation course for my knee, it didnt go well, i was blacking out with exercise, headaches 24/7. Late Febuary i was sent to DMRC Headley Court, a military hospital,diagnosed with minor brain damage amongst other issues. over the next few months i battles away and overcame them all, Brain tissue can't heal once dead but you automatically find other ways of dealingwith things, it's complex but can be dealt with. No one that knows me can tell the difference, but inside i know, i know i'm a little slower, that its harder for me to concentrate, but thats just life, we adapt, we cope.

Now? I'm back at work, full time, up for medical review in 11days time, i suffer headaches 24/7 but i'm coping. I played a 60minute game of football (Americans read "soccer") and i was so happy by the end, even though i played rubbish that i managed to stay upright and do something.
