Shit that's said or done for image purposes annoys me. People could say whatever they want to me as long as it's honest and said only to say it and not for some other reason, and I would have no problem with it no matter what it was, but when people do and say shit for image purposes it's so fucking annoying. Just be yourself already, and don't think that just because I don't go around acting like you that you can pull that shit with me.

Seriously, sometimes I can't even watch a commercial without being annoyed because I know they're not being honest, or because they have to bash another company, or because they're trying too damn hard. If you have to put any effort into what you say or do, don't say or do it.

Then again, most of the time it's just amusing, especially when people do it when starting shit with somebody. "Everybody thinks you're an idiot, nobody cares about you, we all just ignore you" Really? Then why did you just spend all that time, and all of those other posts responding to that person?

 

Many people think you're an idiot, very few people care about you, almost all of us ignore you.

Nope, still done for image purposes. Words like "many", "very few", and especially "us or we" or anything like that, are used for a reason. They are used to make a weak or nonexistent point seem stronger than it really is. Ontop of that, it's unnecessary to say those things at all. It's shit you learn in the schoolyard and amongst your peers at elementary school to high school ages, and shit you should drop when you leave those places for good.

 

Way to blanket statement on that word usage there.

I wouldn't say this is an annoying word or phrase so much as it is a grammatical error, but me being a Grammar Gestapo, I cannot stand to see "your" when it should be "you're."

Just ticks me.

 

Gestapo isn't a singular noun. It's a contraction of "Geheime Staatspolizei" or 'Secret State Police'.

You can't 'be' a Gestapo, any more than you can 'be' a Squadron.
