  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I listened to a few tracks and while it's interesting, I can't see him even coming close to Maynard's power.

Compared to Tool, APC, and everything else I've ever heard, definitely... I've heard stuff that sounded "worse", sure, but I went into that with certain expectations of anything Maynard does and was completely thrown for a loop. It took some time for me to be able to get into it, because it's oddly disturbing to listen to for me. It feels like he meant for it to be an unpleasant experience, or something... creepy.

I have to agree. For the longest time, I claimed Trent Reznor as my favorite artist... but as the years go by and Maynard only grows in strength while Trent wanes, the scales have tipped in favor of Mr. Keenan. Don't get me wrong; I'm still a huge fan of Trent/NIN as well.

I also have a thing for the band from the Metalocalypse cartoon, Dethklok(which is a real band; they're on tour right now)... if you don't like metal, don't bother to look them up. :p The songs have lyrics that make me giggle and still sound all hardcore.

This guy actually reminds me a little bit of Reznor from the Downward Spiral album. This Justin guy.

What stuff did you listen to?

jesu? Godflesh? Head Of David? Napalm Death? All are him.

The music Broadrick makes isn't about the singing, so much as the entire sonic battery that assaults your senses, in the midst of which his voice becomes another instrument, another aspect of the entire aural landscape.

I have a Laptop, and a car radio that plays data cds (mp3 or wma) so have no need of a portable. If I did i'd go generic? why pay for the pretentious apple shiny/bright (micratude? Top gear? Too much Dave?) product when perfectly acceptable and superior alternatives are available cheaper?

Not very most have metal somewhere in there genre.

Avril lavigne, michelle branch other similar mellow museings, and of course a bit of 90's cheese...

Depends how long I spend chained to my laptop, or driving...

1): The first mp3 player i ever bought was a Archos 605 (160gig). It was huge, clunky and awesome..until the batterly life went to hell in a handbasket..and the controls/touchscreen and firmware went to utter shit. I couldn't even update the bastard. All of this happened within a month of the warranty expiring :(

2): Umm I'll listen to blues, rap, jazz, electronica, DnB, techno, rave, trance, lounge, orchestral, opera, ambient, alternative, house, rock, soul, blah blah blah...Just NOT classical.. :p

3): I'm not sure, its not a subject that gets much attention between my circles

4): hmm 3-4 hours sounds right for me too.

I'm a bit confused cause mp3 players and iPods are very different. I own both and like the mp3 player a little much. iPods can be very touchy and they just seem to be getting bigger while mp3 players get smaller which is much easier to shove in your pocket lol. I listen to music maybe around...18 hours a day. And it's usually R&B or hip-hop. I just can't stand other music. Most of my friends like metal or rock and I try listening to it and all I hear is screaming and bashing instruments together, how is that music? And usually it's about how life sucks and people just want to kill themselves lol.

So yea my friends wouldn't be surprised by anything on either my iPod or mp3 player. They all know the kind of music I like.

    1. I didn't buy my mp3 player, I got it for Christmas either junior or senior year of HS, and had gotten an even crappier one from CVS the year before that broke in a month or so. I would've eventually bought one either way though because I needed it for working out and when taking public transportation/walking somewhere, and I like to listen to music whenever I can. Mine's not a very expensive one, infact they gave it away free when you bought certain things at different places, but it works great, and has a recorder and FM radio too.

    2. I have all kinds of music except for country on there really, and if I hadn't lost the chord to put files on there from my computer a few years back and not replaced it yet, there would be a lot more diversity on there than there is right now. Mine is mostly different kinds of rock/rap at the moment, and a lot of them are motivational songs, but I like all kinds of music.

    3. There isn't anything my friends would be most surprised to find on my mp3 player, but if I had updated it more recently than 2007/early 2008, there would be a ton of things that would surprise them, mostly a bunch of non-masculine songs because I like songs with real emotion and where the artist is just being real and not trying to sell anything.

    4. I spend a lot of time listening to music a day, between listening to internet radio when I'm on my computer, and listening to my mp3 whenever I'm working out or doing anything really that I feel the need to have music for, I'd say it could be anywhere from 3-10 hours depending on the day.

You must be introduced to good rock music and quick. Screaming and bashing instruments together? Damn

Rock music was rap music before rap music was invented. For as many great hip hop artists there are in history, there are just as many, if not more, rock artists/bands.

Yea that's kinda true but the genres are too different now. The people that listen to the two are extremely different. Rap music has steadily become it's own thing and maybe to a lot of people there's great rock bands but to me it all sounds the same.

But I'm not saying most hip hop artists don't sound the same. And there's some I can't stand listening to (50 Cent, Eminem to name a couple), but I'd prefer them over most rock. For people who don't like hip hop and rap haven't been listening to the right music.

They're supposed to be different. They come from different people.

And I'd say the same thing about rock, how anybody who doesn't like the entire genre really hasn't heard the right music.

    Like for example, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB01PY9c-T8

    or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1moiym6-Nk

    or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lBNIiCMu7I

for a few examples of themes that are common in both hip hop and rock.

Oh, and another great song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hzrDeceEKc
