  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Okay, I have a few things to say. A few comments on the first page were talking about how McDs and Taco Bell and the such are cheap and Subway is more expensive and that is why people are fat. Ummm... ever heard of grocery shopping? I guarantee you that shopping and making informed decisions about food in a supermarket will be cheaper than going out to eat. So that is just ridiculous.

Also, someone mentioned making a tax on the "bad" fast foods, why should the government step in and raise prices on something that you should be smart enough to take in moderation? Nothing is wrong with having a Big Mac... as long as you aren't having one a day.

Now, more on the actual OP... do people discriminate against fat people? Yes they do. But then again, there is discrimination everywhere. Suck it up and stop being such a little bitch. I'm overweight and I could give a crap. Here's the thing, These people are whining because they are discriminated because they can't get jobs at Hooters or as a Flight Attendant. Well... lose some weight then apply. Some jobs are for skinny people. Simple as that.

Now, about the whole entire weight loss thing, most people can lose weight if they actually put effort into it. The reason I say most instead of all, is for those rare instances that it is medical. My cousin takes medication for her cancer that had her balloon up and she literally cannot lose weight. These instances are FAR and FEW between though. If you rounded up 100 fat people, it would be rare that even ONE would have a legit medical reason for why they are fat. The "slow metabolism" although a medical issue, is not a medical reason for not losing weight. Like someone pointed out earlier---

Burn same calories as you take in = maintain weight.
Burn more calories as you take in = weight loss.
Burn less......well you see where this is going.

Even with a slow metabolism you can apply this logic. Eh, I can go further into this, but for now, this will do.

A very well written post, the only thing I will disagree with in it at all, is pro athletes don't run on gravel and loose rocks, or broken pavement, with 120 lbs of gear on there back...thats all, otherwise, thanks for the info.

Edit: This is based on the 2007 VA payouts for medical related problems sustained by service, reffering to degraded cartilage in knee being the highest overall percentage at 13.3%

It doesn't matter what you run on or how much weight you have on you when you do, good habits prevent injury or joint problems, period. If your knees are taking a beating then you need to do things the right way because they shouldn't be getting battered without contact(don't forget that pro athletes do have lots of contact, especially football players who get hit in the knees all the time). I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm telling you from experience. I had knee problems/knee pain for years before I started doing things the right way, and now they don't even so much as feel discomfort no matter what I do, including contact sports.

Remember, the way you do things now will affect the way you feel and the way you function later in life.

I believe what your saying, but I don't think its entirely applicable in some circumstance, you just can't make it all happen the right way out here.

Edit above statement too read: We just do things as Soldiers that no one else does. Like hitting the deck, with gear, at full speed, its not just contact I'd imagine, its the frequency of it.

But here is an interesting thing I found...

"today about 60% of americans are overweight and 26% (about 54 million people) are obese. another 6 million are super-obese, meaning that they weight at least 100 pounds more than they should." ~ Social Problems Willaim Kornblum and Joseph Julian

He's talking about having a 120lb backpack on. That's the weight of a slight woman, mate. That's like running 15, 20k, on a rocky and uneven surface, with Bella on your back, every day.

It doesn't matter what your technique is, that sort of extra weight will take a toll on your knees. Combine that with an uneven and unstable surface, and - well - you're fucked. Eventually. Technique will allay it, but not prevent it.

You're not the only one talking from experience. Half my family have fucked knees from doing exactly the sort of military fitness training the guy's talking about.

Then the military needs to get smarter about training. Soldiers are supposed to be the most fit, most strong, most everything out of everybody. They should be doing things just as much as, if not more, efficiently than pro athletes. That includes preventing injury.

And MilPig, pro athletes aren't exactly pampered nor are they like everybody else. Soldiers and pro athletes are a lot more similar than you think, and I only used pro athletes as an example because I know what they have to do in order to even be able to play, let alone be good, and it's more than anybody outside of the military or emergency services does. My point was if they can do all of those different things they do day in and day out and then the even more that they do in games without problems, then so can everybody else.

    *sigh*

It's a question of terrain. Your pro athletes are running on solid ground. Soldiers are usually not.

They are, just not necessarily in the way the train, thats all. Believe me, I don't have a fleet of doctors out here, shit my guys ain't even got a medic right now, I'm the fill in. So your knees bother you, chew some aspirin, its different in the level of care. Not to mention that work out facilities, I've got a tent with some sand bags on a bar, and well I can run anywhere I want pretty much...

No, they're not pampered. Anybody outside of what you do or the emergency services or something like that couldn't survive even a half hour of a pro workout.

You think I'm comparing the two or trying to say that a pro athlete has it as hard. I'm not. I'm saying that if those conditions are that bad for training then the government needs to learn a thing or two about how to train without injury and how to offer sufficient services and facilities. I understand that it's about remaining hard and all of that and not going soft, but proper training and/or habits does not make you soft and infact it's a lot harder than you think. If anything, you would benefit from them.

Believe me, if you're in the military, you have my utmost respect because I could probably never do that and because you're out there fighting the fights that other people only talk about. I approached this not knowing you were in the military, but even still, my point stands about the right ways to do things and habits and all of that. If they want a soldier to be as efficient as possible, they need to train him/her to do just that. I think it's complete bullshit if soldiers don't get more to work with and more services than average citizens because their lives are on the line 24/7. Hell, even just more complete training regimens, though I'm sure that's wayy down there on your list of needs.

Either way.. barring those who are in the military, the right ways to do things and the right habits will infact prevent injury and give you a better chance to have joints that don't suck when you get older and a body that functions well.

It's a given that most people are still skinny at the age of 22. If Orion is still skinny by age 50, I will be surprised! ;)

    Elitist attitude fail.

    ^ This.

I'm 18. Up until I was 11, I was *morbidly* obese. Like, 227. I fucking starved and hit weights for 3 years to lose the pounds. Now I'm like 16" taller than I was and I'm 171. I found out when I was 16 I had a non-active thyroid condition, and I work to battle it every fucking day. I keep my body firm, but it sucks. I have to put in like 10x as much work as other people to stay fit. Also, try to make yourself realize that while you were born with physical advantages (I'm assuming you're not a scrawny little emo fuck, but your profile pic has me wondering), others weren't. However, although I am no longer overweight, I do sympathize with those that are.
On the other hand, however. A lot of people just can't put down the fucking fork. And while for the longest time after I dropped my weight I had an elitist attitude about the people who are like I was, I've come to realize that exercise is fucking hard. Some people have more trouble with it than others. Some people just don't have the mental fortitude for it. You should try to take into consideration that not everyone has fitness given to them at birth. And for those that don't - most of them are so used to ridicule they never better themselves.

You're just coming off as ignorant.

All of that said, I hope you take these speculations with a grain of salt. I mean you no insult, and simply aim to help you see the bigger picture.

    I respect your statement.

However, I stand by my assertion: the vast majority of overweight people are overweight because of a lack of discipline.

I agree, it is definitely lack of discipline. However, I think something that contributes to that is the lack of health education in our schools. The "physical education" in our schools for the most part is pitiful. They have kids playing soccer or football, with many kids not even participating. Who are the ones not participating? THE ONES WHO NEED TO!!! They are not teaching kids how to keep fitness and health a part of their everyday adult life.

I was a part of a team in my high school that talked with administration about problems and ways to make the school better. Unfortunately the focus isn't on physical education. Another group of students [that I was also a part of] brought a proposal to the board of education on splitting the week into health education and fitness education. MWF the students would learn about nutrition and how to eat well then T-TH they would be physically active in ways that they could bring into their adult life. The next week the days would switch so you would be getting an equal amount of both. [meaning MWF would be the physical stuff and T-TH would be the health stuff]. The health education classes in high schools, first of all, don't completely focus on nutrition or healthy eating. They talk about sexual health, drugs, etc etc etc. AND, at least in most high schools that we talked to and saw their curriculum, the things that they were doing were extremely easy. We need to teach our children how to be healthy. Not to put the blame on the schools, because no matter what, the parents are still in control of what their children eat. However if we educate our kids properly the probability that they implement the right choices rises.

Sadly, the board declined our idea for the fact that it would take hiring more teachers who would know about nutrition because a lot of the physical education teachers didn't have the knowledge to teach the class that we were talking about. How sad is that??? The people who we are entrusting to teach our children about physical fitness don't know how to eat properly [well, they might know, but they don't have the specialization to teach it.].

Sorry, a bit of a tangent.

If people get to the clinically obese size, they should be killed and fed to the starving masses. This would have a two-fold effect on the world's population. Less fat diseases and an immediate end to world hunger.

Lol!! Aren't you the woman that purposely chooses not to work and get welfare payments instead? Don't you think you're being like, a hypocrite of massive proportions by saying that we should kill fat people to help humankind? Ya know, 'cause you do absolutely nothing to help it yourself?

Unless you consider monetary inspired cock sucking a civic duty. If that's the case, YOU GO GIRL!

Right, here we go. Let me explain why I can sell sex. I can sell sex because men are prepared to buy it. If they weren't I couldn't. Easy, see? Why do they want to buy sex from me? Because their wives and girlfriends are running around crying that they want to explore their sexuality, they might be gay, or they're just some stuck up, frigid bitch who won't put out more than once a month for their husbands. The difference between me and a wife, apart from the fact that I will fuck their husbands, is that I'm more honest. I charge much less than a ring, home, 2 cars in the drive and a holiday abroad every year. For someone with only four posts, you seem to have taken a shine to me all of a sudden. But I still won't sleep with you. Even whores have limits.
