I live in a black neighborhood in a predominately black city that rioted when Martin Luther King was killed in 1968. If Obama gets assassinated, I will want to shoot some of the whites celebrating, but blacks in my neighborhood will shoot me. They will not know or care that I voted for Obama.

The Japanese, and you Brits, traditionally bow to your sovereigns not because they are heads of state or out of politeness, but because they are royalty, and by tradition going back to the days when royalty was considered to have God-given and absolute power, you owe them obeisance. America was founded on a tradition that there is no earthly royalty, that all men are created equal, and that government exists only to serve its people, not the other way around. We do not recognize royal figures as being any better than any other human, and reject the principles that placed them on a throne. Therefore we do not bow in servility as you do. It's symbolic, but symbols mean something. In this case it stands for a deeply held principle. If the symbol means nothing to you, the principle doesn't either. Your queen is a woman I deeply respect as a person, but I would never bow to her, as that would be seen as a symbol not of personal respect, but of servility to a crown. Homey don't play that.

Second, the President of the United States, when in a foreign country, is the physical manifestation of his nation. He is the United States. When he bows to a royal figure, he is showing that this nation is servile to kings, and our principles mean nothing. Homey should never think of playing that.
