most likely true but can we really say that considering government grinds to a halt when we have votes that go perfectly down party lines and though if we did eliminate them it would hopefully force politicians to stick with what they preach

More and more Americans are starting to notice that Republicans have crossed the line into trashing America itself and opposing anything that would benefit the American people.

In order to fight health care reform to benefit all Americans, Republicans had to make up outrageous lies about death panels plotting to exterminate senior citizens.

But with economists suggesting the possibility of a “jobless recovery,” more needs to be done to provide assistance for those who remain out of work and to create more jobs.

They’ll need to invent even scarier plots to convince Americans that being employed and earning enough money to support their families would be a bad thing.

Republicans have to come up with something outrageous to keep their supporters good and mad. If those angry mobs ever settled down and thought rationally, they’d realize their party had been taken over by anti-Americans who oppose anything that is good for their country.

Interestingly, not one liberal has been able to say how the Republicans have blocked anything since January. All this thread is, is pure liberal bullshit.

The difference is, I was making flippant, joking remarks (obvious to anyone with any intelligence), and the right wing is serious.

The idea that George Bush was not voted into office is not much of a factual stretch. The idea that Barack Obama is not an American citizen is a flat-out lie, and only the wing-nuttiest of the wingnuts don't know it.

Responding to somoene else's suggestion about the benefits of Bush committing suicide is hardly the same thing as advocating for Obama's murder.

It's not for lack of trying. And I would submit that if they haven't completely blocked health care reform, they've certainly blocked GOOD health care reform.

That is the biggest difference Kimko, here we seem to have the Republicans taking ther beliefs to the extreme, they are stopping any and everything that is for the/or may benifit of the American people...because of selfish and childish pride....(or bank account)........

Stopping progress of a nation just to see someone fail is outlandish.

It’s widely acknowledged now that Obama’s first financial recovery package pulled the country back from the brink of a second Great Depression. (Those who claim Obama hasn’t accomplished anything seem to have forgotten that little item.)

You dodged that question, how did they block it? You haven't said anything to substantiate the charge.

Semantics. If there aren't enough votes to pass meaningful health care, and not a single Republican was willing to vote for it, did they block it? Yes. They have repeatedly blocked reform by threatening to filibuster, thus creating the impression that 60 votes are needed in the Senate. That has forced a steady watering down of the bill.

The health care bill has been repeated stalled not by Republicans, but by Democrats. They do have the votes, but can not muster the troops, why do you keep blaming the Republicans?

Because Republicans are all voting no. If that were not the case, it wouldn't be necessary for the Democrats so secure every single Democratic vote. Don't YOU think it's a bit disengenuous to blame Democrats when ALL of the Republicans are voting no?

The question should be...what haven't the Republicans triied to block.

If you feel it is pure liberal bs then prove it wrong, ....can you?

CAP Action’s scrutiny of the 37 bills that Republicans waved at President Barack Obama during his recent speech on health care reform to the joint session of the Congress show that Republicans are being disingenuous about both the scope of these so-called solutions and the fact that they have not been considered by the Democratic leadership. These bills were put together by the Republican Study Committee under the title “Health Care Solutions by RSC Members.”

Our analysis of these bills shows:
    • There is a paucity of new ideas and solutions for health care reform in the Republican camp. Many of these bills echo only a few themes—medical liability and tax cuts, for example—and five of them are reworkings of McCain election proposals, which were rejected by the majority of American voters.
    • A small number of smart ideas proposed by Republicans (eight) have been incorporated into the House and Senate bills.
    • Some of these bills (five) lie outside of the jurisdiction of committees that have reported bills, and since no bill has yet come to the House floor there has been no opportunity for their consideration or inclusion in the reform legislation. In these cases, claiming that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic majority have not considered these bills in committee or on the House floor fails to recognize the procedural rules of the House.
    • Only five amendments relating to these bills were offered during markup of the bills that do lie within the jurisdiction of the House committees that have reported out H.R. 3200. The obvious explanation is that Republicans don’t really care whether these bills are enacted or not.
    • In 18 cases there were opportunities for these legislative provisions to be included in other more appropriate legislative vehicles that have moved through the House, and Republicans have not worked to make this happen.
    • A number of these bills (five) have been around since the 106th Congress—over a decade ago—so claiming that Speaker Pelosi is responsible for failure to ensure their consideration ignores the fact that the House was controlled by Republicans for the major part of that time.
    • Nine bills were introduced after July 1, so it’s unreasonable to expect their inclusion in legislative packages that were already being written at that time.
    • Thirteen bills have no or only one cosponsor, so we assume they have little Republican support.
All in all it’s a bit rich for Republicans to claim they have solutions and that these solutions have been ignored by the Democrats. It takes more than a few sentences of legislative language on paper waved rudely at the president to tackle health care reform.

Republicans, if you dont think this is true. please explain why LOGICALLY. Don't just yell out obama a socialist.

    [/QUOTE]

Okay, first off, like I have stated before, those are only a few of the first threads from the first page I found on the 3 pages worth that the search engine returned back to me as results. I am not going to continue to post all of them on here. If you want to see how many there are, how about you do some research of your own, now that I have shown you that there have been threads by democrats bashing Bush.

If you look on the dates of just those six examples, the oldest threads that the search engine found, you have the following dates:

    6/28/07 President Bush Thread
7/02/07 Bush Commutes Libby's Prison Sentence!!!!
7/05/07 An entirely new reason to impeach bush
11/18/07 Bush supports tax rebates to stimulate economy
    1/18/08 George Bush Is Evil
4/29/08 Bush speaks on the economy

The first three are only three days in space when it comes to difference of days when the threads were started, that seems like a pretty steady stream. But as I said these were the first six from the first page of 3 pages. So feel free to search through them, and find how steady they are.

Who is wishing for America to fail? All the threads I have read from the person who original posts, is doing the same as all the other Republicans who started those threads. Just take the name of those threads, read above for the names of the threads. The people were just stating their opinions in what they thought was bad with the President, minus one that is a direct hateful one. Many people who posted on those threads said many hateful things, that would be construed as to being Anti-American, yet because they are Democrats it is automatically okay. But when a Republican does the same thing, it is automatically terrible. I find that to be hypocrisy at its finest.

I do not see how anyone on this threads are actively working and hoping for the country to fail out of political spite. I see people's opinions from both Democrats and Republicans who wanted both Presidents to be removed from office. Now if that is what you consider to be actively working and hoping for the country to fail out of political spite, then I guess anyone who states their opinions on these threads are guilty of that, including you.

Only way someone can be actively working for the country to fail out of political spite, would be the Republicans preventing laws from being made. But as we all know, it takes 2/3 majority to make laws occur. Now the majority are Democrats, but they do not make 2/3, not even with the Independents included in that number. So that means to reach the 2/3 majority vote, it will take some Republicans to make it happen. I know we have gone over this before, so you know I am right on this. So, if laws are going forward, it is evident that the Republicans are not stopping anything from happening, because if they all voted no, there would not be enough votes to reach the 2/3 majority vote from the Democrats and Independents alone.

And have you ever thought that it is not political spite, but more about political ideology? That there are different things that the Democrats and Republicans believe in and support? No, that possibly could not be it, that makes too much sense. Come on Stumbler, there will always be things that Republicans and Democrats do not see eye to eye on, and things that the Democrats will never vote in support of, and things that the Republicans will never vote in support of.

No, but it is certainly disingenuous to blame the Republicans because you cannot get your act together.

BTW, not all Republicans are voting no, however more Democrats are voting no than Republicans voting yes.

And as I stated, those are not the only 6 threads. Those are just the first 6 threads from the first page of three pages that the search engine came up with. I am not going to post all of them. You can search on your own time and realize that there are many more. Consider it a form of Socratic form of teaching to help you to find answers for yourself.

But none of the people's opinions are way for the people posting to be actively working or hoping for the country to fail out of political spite. It just shows their opinions of wanting for Obama to fail, as Democrats wanted Bush to fail. Nothing different there.

I have admitted many times when I am wrong, and I have even admitted to you when I have been wrong plenty of time prior to this thread. So thank you for proving that I do have personal honor.

I am just trying to show that you cannot say that Republicans making statements and personal opinions on Obama, just like Democrats were making statements and personal opinions on Bush, is considered Anti-American. Because if you call one group Anti-American on this forum, you must call the other group Anti-American as well. It would be hypocritical not to be equal in accusations and punishments.

As far as the blaming goes...who started public lies?
Who indorsed tea partys and advacted for them...and why?
Who started a public smur campain against the President and the administration?
Who publically laughs at any failures that America endures??

Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, President George W. Bush’s secretary of Health and Human Services, has now joined a small group of pro-American Republicans such as former presidential candidate Bob Dole and former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a physician, in advocating support for health care reform.

Notice the small group part..peeps are starting to wake up tenguy...Is your list different then mine?

No it isn't, but it does not change the FACT that the Republicans can not block any legislation, yet alone health care. Why don't you just admit it?

Okay, let me show you how that is a false statement. And I will use Wikipedia, because people are okay with that as a valid source.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/111th_United_States_Congress#Party_summary

    2/3 majority vote for a law to pass. 2/3 = 66%

Now lets break down the seat in the Senate and the House of Representatives by party affiliation.

    Senate (100 seats) 2/3 majority vote = 66 votes
    Democrats: 58
    Independents: 2
    Republicans: 40

So add up the Democrats and the Independents and you have only 60 votes, being 60%. Now that means to get a law passed the Senate would need 6 votes from the Republicans for something to occur. So how are laws getting approved?

House of Representatives (433 seats) 2/3 majority vote = 286 votes
    Democrats: 256
    Republicans: 177

So if there are only 256 Democrats and that only gives you 59%, then that means to get a law passed the House of Representatives would need 30 votes from the Republicans for something to occur. So how are laws getting approved?

So the way I see it, without the Republicans helping the Democrats out, nothing would happen in Capital Hill.
