  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

I personally like it a lot, I use Mac OSX 90% of the time, but I was tempted to try Win 7 because the Microsoft marketing scum finally got to me. I mainly use it for games and a bit of coding, but it seems to work a lot better than Vista did on my MacBook Pro.

A lot of people that I personally know still complain about the high system requirements of Win7 / Vista, but I am glad the Microsoft actually had the balls to force people to upgrade their computers. I went to school for 4 years for application programming, and I was getting a bit tired of always having to RECODE the same program for the companies who were still using the same system since 1996.

One weird thing though, I have 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed, but in a online system test, it takes 1GB of the 4 and recognizes it as video RAM, not a big deal, just pointing it out though.

    Overall, Windows 7 gets a 8/10 IMO

    Is it really that great?

Just to be clear, I never had any problems with Vista, and I think it's pointless to upgrade to a different OS just because it's newer and supposed to be better.

    I'm still skeptical....

dude, opening your processor box and shitting inside of it before restarting your computer is considered an upgrade from Vista.

Vista is so bad, it's almost good again.

do you hear me? Vista broke the bad scale.

But what exactly is bad about it? I've never had any problems with it. EVER. I had problems with Windows 95, 98, and some problems with my XP Media Center. I've just never had any problems with Vista.

Am I not using my comp to its full potential?

I had more problems with Windows XP than anything. Vista is working fine for me, so I am not changing over. Why fix what isn't broken?

    now it's out...it looks good...
but I'm gonna wait till the first service pack comes out...
    before I switch from XP...
    Vista was a lemon...

Vista was fine as long as you didn't put it on a computer you already had that wasn't able to handle it. Or, if you didn't have any software you already owned that didn't run on Vista. Or, if you tried to put it on a computer that the drivers were not readily available for under Vista.

I found Vista to be a huge train wreck. But, it served the purpose, as have other suckie versions of windows. It forced millions of people to upgrade and now 7 will get a bunch who waited out Vista to move forward. $$ Bill Gates wins.

I've had my PC just over 2 years, and at that point, Vista had been around a relatively short time. Even then I heard stories about it being... less than wonderful. In fact, the company who built my PC warned me against installing Vista - as did Binky. I took their advice on board and went with XP. Best thing I ever did, because ever since I've been reading horror story after horror story about Vista. And as Stumbly can vouch for, it certainly wasn't designed for low-specification computers!

To those thinking about getting Windows 7, I'd say a couple of things.

One - is your current operating system doing all you need it to do, without any problems, crashes or bother? If it is, there's no reason to upgrade. None. XP will be security supported by MS until about 2014, and no doubt Vista will too. Simply, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Two - if you're running XP and you're happy with it, upgrading to Seven could cause you a major headache. Unlike Vista, which can be upgraded to Seven while keeping all your original applications and files, an XP/Seven upgrade will require you losing everything you have. Think of it as a reinstall of your operating system, and you'll have some idea of what I'm talking about.

Three - wait a while. Seven is a new OS, and even though it's better than Vista - and lets face it, that's not saying much - it's going to have it's fair share of bugs. Why trade your currently stable OS for one that isn't? I'd wait about a year, giving MS time to iron out the worse bugs, and offer it's first service pack.

Four - if you're trying to future proof your desktop - and to a much lesser degree, your laptop - do NOT go for the 32-bit version of Seven. Go for the 64-bit version, instead. There are two reasons for this. One, increasingly, programs are being written with 64-bit technology in mind and two, 32-bit limits your memory capacity to about 4GB. 64-bit, allows you to take your computer up to a mammoth 128GB of memory! (Well, mammoth for roughly 15 minutes into the future, at any rate :excited:)

In case anyone is wondering which operating system is the fastest... from what I've heard, XP is still faster than Seven. But Seven is faster than Vista.

One other thing - when you're looking at the packaging of Seven in the store, and it says "minimum system requirements" - mentally times that number by 2, to give you some idea of what kind of computing power you need to get it to work halfway decently!

I hope this helps anyone deliberating over "upgrading" their OS.

Bye for now - Fluffy McNoo. :)

I am not having problems with 'old shitty printers and stuff'. My Vista crashes all the time for no good reason, it is super slow, and that's only naming a couple problems.

    *shrug*

Vista might not be great, but damn, some people are clearly getting raw deals.

I use it on my PC laptop, and never had any problems. What do people do to their computers to fuck the OS up so much?
