I personally do not believe people "turn" gay. I honestly believe people are born gay.
They might have realized that they are indeed gay, or were in denile about being gay.

They also have found definitely that brains of ftm's are like natural born males and that those of mtf's are like natural born females.

All of which is definitive proof people are BORN that way, it is not a simple choice of being that way. Of course to fundamentalists it is the work of the DEVIL Too bad there really isn't one.

Insanity is absolutely right, and that applies to sexuality (gay, lesbian, bi) as well as gender identity, ftm and mtf transexuals.

The term transgendered covers (unfortunately) both sexual orientation and gender identity (transexual).

Also it should be noted that gender identity has nothing at all to do with sexuality orientation. Transexuals can be of any sexual orientation.

You most definately do not turn, it might just rake a while to realise or be definate.

 

i dont think there is a gay gene to say the least. I think evironmental conditions play a big part. Im not saying if you surround a child with gay people it makes the child grow up to be gay. its more complex than that, it comes down to small life experiences growing up, particulary round early pubity

 

I do not agree... my whole family thinks gays are gross and are going to hell... and this was drilled into my head for years and years.... and the same with the rest of the people in my family and my cousin.. is a full blow lesbian..... so i do not agree.

now, some research suggests "gay gene" might actually exist but what is certain is that it's not a single gene (otherwise it would have been discovered many years ago)
the environment (composed of vast number of factors) probably contributes its fair share to the outcome, particularly in postnatal, prepubertal and pubertal period

but I believe some "transitions" are indeed possible even later in life, many things to consider, could be just an illusion inflicted by this biased society

what if we just helped to create an unbiased society to test it out?

I don't see myself as gay - I am far more attracted to women than men, but I know that gay people know they are gay from an early age. It is how they, their friends and their families choose to deal with open and honest awareness of the wide variety of human sexuality.

 

I have been with both men and women, I never turned "bi" it just kinda happened, I had the urge for a man. I love to be with women more then men, and would never have a relationship with a man, but the sex isn't bad sometimes and can change things up every once in awhile

Gays are born the way they are.

There is no Gay "Gene" in the sense that a gene is merely a sequence of DNA involved in producing a polypeptide chain. A single gene does not usually have a direct impact on the whole body. There are a few examples with certain genetic illnesses. What does make a major influence on the body are segments of the chromosomes, those rediculously tightly coiled lengths of DNA, each one with millions of genes.

In the entire human genetic code (that roughly 3 billion nucleic letter!), there are many simple mutations ranging from a misplaced letter, some letters are reversed, or whole sections get deleted for some reason, to properly written letters being written in the wrong place.
A sing letter doesn't hurt much. Where you see serious mutations is in large segments of damaged DNA.
The reason we become more susceptible to diseases as we age is because we accumulate more mutations and genetic damage over time.

There is no gay gene, but there are several areas of the X Chromosome that are interesting to scientists looking for something that influences sexual orientation.

Since homosexuality occurs in both males and females, we can assume this much: The gay gene exists only on the X chromosome, the sections of DNA they are looking for cannot be found on the Y chromosome, it must be a recessive trait (if it were dominant, homosexuality would probably be way, way more prevalent than it is today. God I feel bad, talking about it like it's a disease, ah what are ya gonna do? lol). Since homosexuality is more prevalent in men than women, the precise mutations must be on areas of the X chromosome that the Y does not have.
The reason why more men seem to be more prone to homosexuality may be because women have a full pair of X chromosomes. Now, given that the 'gay gene' is recessive, we can also infer that the 'straight gene' is dominant....
This straight gene might lie on a different part of the X Chromosome though...


Women area rather strange creatures. All men utilize their X chromosomes. Women in fact only use half of all X chromosomes they have. Given that all cells with a nucleus include the two X chromosomes, and given that it requires only one X to live (as evidenced by the existence of men), one must wonder what happens to those extra X chromosomes that women carry.
In cellular microscopy, when observing a female cell, if we focus on the nucleus right down to the chromosomes... we see that only one X chromosome is present! The other X chromosome has collapsed into a dense black dot on inside the nucleus! This little black dot is called a Barr Body.
It also turns out that women have a fail safe built into them. In order to prevent them from turning into super monster women, the females body collapses all extra X chromosomes into Barr Bodies! There is documentation showing some women with 3 X chromosomes (these women in particular are actually classified as being 'Meta-Women' look it up!), some with four, five, even six Barr Bodies! With just a single active X Chromosome.
