He promises he would remove troops from Iraq, and send 2 Brigades to Afghanistan.

He already did that promise when he moved the 2 Brigades from Iraq to Afghanistan.

I think its good to see Obama compromised and is sending 30,000 more troops, even though it is not the 40,000 troops requested, the support will help a lot.

Only thing that does bother me is more time tables. I really wish that people who are in politics understand that time tables interfere with progress of operations.

If someone wants a war to be won, do not put time limits on the war, this is not a sports game. Let the US fight until the mission is complete.

One can make a pretty strong argument that the voters make no difference whatsoever in this game. Two presidents, two parties, same result.

I'll at least give Obama credit for consistency on this one. He said he'd increase troop levels in Afghanistan, and he has. Unfortunately, this is one campaign promise I really hoped he would break. Now he owns the war in Afghanistan, lock, stock and barrel, and I think he'll rue the day he decided to take ownership of it.

 

I don't understand why every military move we make, like the surges, are always made public to the world. The Talibahn know a 30,000 troop surge is coming, so, all they have to do is quietly fall back and mix in with the citizens and wait until the surge is over.

The D-Day invasion would not have been effective as it was in WWII if we had announced it ahead of time.

 

Only because the voter has been duped into thinking that his vote does not matter. And further, this is only possible when the politicians are predominantly self-serving professionals.

I could not agree with you more. It is terrible to let the enemy know the amount of forces we are sending, and on top of that let them know that the time limit for this is on July 2011.

Why not just tell the enemy to go and relax on a vacation until then.

 

The only thing he promised was to remove troops from Iraq and add two brigades to Afghanistan. That was his campaign promise which he kept back in February, when he moved the 2 brigades from Iraq to Afghanistan.

This one is not part of his campaign promise.

 

I do not believe in this war at all, and never had.

However i acutally have friends fighting there and while i hate the thought that more people are entering into a dangerous situation, i'm glad that my friends and our troops will have more support soon.

I too hope and pray this war ends very soon, the loss of lifes and the destruction this war is bringing, not just for the soliders but the loved ones left behind is very sad.
