Richard Carson (May 25, 1934) passed away Sunday evening (December 27, 2009), following a heart attack on Christmas Day.

Rico was born to a poor Scandanavian family. There was never a lack of love or nuturing. He spoke highly of his grandmother, her garden, her cooking, and her love for life. He was highly educated and had a varied work background. He worked summerstock theater, he taught, he was a case worker and a minister. He took his religion very seriously and up until this year, was an active member on the board at his church.

Richard married young and had two sons before he divorced his first wife. He found love a second time with his wonderful Elaine. She was the love of his life, and he truly felt he had lost everything when she passed away, about ten years ago.

In the later years of his life, Richard was in failing health and forced to spend his days in a wheelchair. He rarely got to leave the house, so the internet became his life. He reached out for friendships on line and was rewarded with many long-lasting and dear friends.

You may loved him, you may have hated him, you may have disagreed with his politics or the way he presented himself. Rico was one of our own. It seems fitting we should honor him at this time. For some of us, the greatest honor we can give him is silence.

You know. For all the horrible things said about Rico on this forum by some of the worst people here, he was not such a bad guy. I don't care if I am the only one, and if I am ostracized from everyone that calls me a friend, but I will miss Rico's presence here on the forum.

I did not have the privilege of knowing him,

but I have read enough of his posts to have respected him. Ejls' eulogy gives us a little insight into the background of one of the more interesting characters on this forum. We have all suffered a loss. Rest in peace, Rico.

 

WOW!! Double wow. This does not happen very often. Its strange and kind of hard hitting to know that someone you've come to know has died. You can come down on the whole God, no-god, argument on any side you want to but we all know death for this life at least is the end gate and we won't be seeing RC again. I'll miss that.

And also wow ejls because this was a wonderful eulogy and enlightens as well as celebrate someone I'm glad I connected with. Thank you, wonderful woman, for bringing this to us.

I'm glad, at least, that we, collectively, were able to entertain him and accompany him in the closing days of his life. I didn't always agree with him, but I did like him -- he added a great deal to the forum's unique ecosystem. RIP.

Rico was always nice to me, also. It is too bad people tended to misunderstand him, because he really was a good person. I will miss him.

Perhaps we can petition to change his title one last time as a tribute?

 

I only knew Rico for a very very short time. He was the first person to request my friendship and he came across as a sweet man to me. It is sad to hear that he has died. RIP Rico:rose:

RC did not display a lot of patience with some members or on some topics. But I have to wonder now if what I thought was a lack of patience was RC knowing he lacked time.

Yeah, I could understand that.

 

A+... life is a miracle Stumbler and I am sure that is the reason he had a short temper, age obviously but members keep me coming back, not the porn. we are all slowly getting there. peace
