Why is it that it seems more men than women are interested in pornography? Is it because men seem to be more visually oriented or is it that women are taught NOT to like or express and interest in porn? Why does it seem that so many women are either offended or feel threatened by porn and the fact that their significant others may enjoy porn? Any thoughts?

 

I think it's mainly just socialization. Girls are brought up differently than boys, and among women, there's still a stigma associated with porn. I wouldn't dare tell most of my girlfriends about this site...and yet they probably have secret lives of their own, which I'm blithely unaware of.

But I think these trends are changing slowly, and the fact that porn can be accessed so much more easily these days is probably changing the dynamic as well. It's much more okay for women to like porn than it was even ten years ago.

To me, it's clearly not about it being just "porn." My wife likes porn once in a while when she's super horny. Of course, I like it all the time. But most women are still very, very curious even in a satisfied relationship. They just don't know how to tell anyone this.

The reason she doesn't like it more it's all built to appeal to the mans eyes. I wish women would direct half of the porn out there to show a guy what a woman really liked/likes when it comes to being graphic. I know my wife likes the setting to be somewhat real, a decent pair of folks who look like they're enjoying it, and can't stand the ridiculous dialog. (Y'know, like BigSausagePizza kind of porn. ridiculous.)

When I was 18/19 an older boyfriend took me to the XXX movies for the first time. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I dont think that men like porn more than woman, they are just more open with it. I'm sure that there are plenty more women who like porn but they are just to shy to tell the truth about it.

We should also remember that although human nature is ignorant of birth control, it evolved in response to pregnancy.

Consequently, most women do not enjoy pornography, and most prostitutes sell their services to men.

i love porn and im a woman ... i however think i am odd ... plus i agree its a gender thing boys are always talking about porn when they growing up and passing around fhm and stuff there wasnt really alot of that when you are a girl ... no nude men magazines easily available i guess

 

How I understand it, men like porn more then woman cus of the chemical structure of the man's brain. Men tend to be more visual then women, hence men tend to lean towards porn for a visual sexual stimuli. Think about it, in porn certain sexual acts look amazing, but in truth they are not any better sensation wise then the common missionary or doggiestyle. Also, fetishes are a man's bread and butter, while most women (this subject has been discussed in this forum) tend not to have any. Course, everything I just wrote is not in the absolute, just my understanding of the thread topic, and laws of averages.
I, myself, a male of 37yo, love porn, LOVE IT, and I also have fetishes (female foot fetish being numero uno), yet every woman I have been with has never liked porn (ok maybe one) nor had a fetish.

I feel that some women feel porn is somehow a threat to them in keeping a mans attention. After all, how many women truly look like many of the women that are often in porn? And of course much of porn is about many sex act that the majroity of women would rarely do in real life like multiple partners, bi sex, orgies etc. Many women I have met are somewhat threatened by porn in that they can never live up to the fantasies presented in porn. Most I fell don't understand that porn for most men is a fantasy trip and most don't actually expect to ever experience what they see in porn pictures or videos.

Men seem visual, they like the idea of having a different woman whenever they want and seem a perfect fit for porn, women are emotional, I am, sounds will make me orgasm. Women will not spend money in porn like men, I like porn to a degree but you can never replace real love and intimacy. I can only imagine the crime rate if porn became illegal...lock your doors!

 

I agree deidre. I have found that porn does tend to get "bland" after a while, though real intimacy will always top anything on a screen any day.

 

Maybe it's because most of the visual porn produced is geared towards men, and securing reactions from them. I appreciate beautiful pictures of a male image. I enjoy reading really good erotic literature. I can't tolerate a story where the male lead has a 14 inch cock, is 4 inches around and cums 8 times in an hour.
