True why somethings have gotten worse some have gotten better too. Society in a whole seems so damn uptight though I think we all need to loosen up a bit and learn that everyone different. We are so ready to take out anything to different or radical and it seems often if people are scared to go outside a social norm. One reason why this site is so nice everybody has a yin and a yang which is ok as long as its the right place right time.

Why aren't you complaining about executive compensation? The difference between CEO salaries and blue collar wages is far higher in the United States than in Japan. I am confident it is also higher here than in India.

You underlying assumption is that third world levels of poverty and inequality are necessary for a thriving economy. The example of every other affluent democracy proves you wrong. So does the example of most third world economies. Third world countries are not known for technical innovations and robust economic growth.

I got several concussions riding my bike without a helmet and my wife almost went through a windshield riding in a car without a seat belt. So, I agree that seatbelts and helmets are a much better idea.
