I'm not a big fan of false humility, but in this case it really is just a "what if" scenario. I am confident in my writing abilities, but considering the authors who have announced their entries, there's some pretty tough competition (I'm assuming ejls is automatically disqualifying herself, or I'd be really worried). I don't expect to win first place, but on the off chance that I do, I want to make it clear ahead of time where the prize money goes so that there's no fighting over it.

That works for me too if other people think that's the way it should be.

Of course, considering the sense of humor of some of the people on these forums, I could very well imagine the first-place winner donating it to some ultra-conservative Christian group trying to clean up the "filth" on the internet. I wouldn't do it myself, but wouldn't that be a hilarious irony! Especially if you included a letter with the check explaining why you're donating it. It would be worth $100.00 just to see the look on their face when they read it.

Actually, since you're putting up the money, I think the ultimate decider of where it should go if the first-place winner doesn't claim it should be you. There just has to be a decision made before the deadline about how to handle it, because once we know who the winners and losers are, there might be the appearance of favoritism if the first-place winner doesn't take the money. If we've already decided ahead of time, then we just follow the rules.

Or maybe I'm just making too big a deal out of this. Most likely the winner will claim the money and then the point is moot.

JT, I had run into a bit of a block before ejls posted this challenge. Not a block so much I guess as just a bit of lack of desire for some reason. Probably from the lack of impetus of the board's problems. When I read the challenge paragraph, I immediately got an interesting idea that blew the block away. Even a different genre than I normally write. Well, mostly different location style and characters than usual, but the same perverted... well, I don't want to give it away too much.

I didn't get the same genre or POV that you did at all from the paragraph. Quite the contrary. And contrary to my normal writing pattern, I've gotten the beginning setup and the (sorta) twist ending already laid out and partly written. Now I just have to work in all the stroke/sex in the middle. < grin >

Anyway, good luck to all and hope none of you run into the dreaded brickwall writer's block. It should be interesting to read all the stories.

To answer DC, I am submitting a story, but given the quality writers who have entered, I don't stand a snowballs chance in hell. And that's all right with me, because I am going to get such pleasure out of reading the best from the best.

I may scrap the gay/lesbian/vampire/plump/lactation story. Maybe something a little more vanilla: blackmail/cannibalism/fisting/latex fetish/necrophila/non-erotic/scatology. Of course, I may have to look up the definitions of some of those tags.

 

Okay, now I'm officially really worried.

Nelson and Jessica (my main characters) have been courting for 1.3 million words. They've finally had their Biggest of Big Days. The gown, veil, tux, and cummerbund have come off. And now I have to somehow improve upon more than 3,000 pages of sex scenes, and couple my hero and heroine in such a way as to transcend all the rest. Yes, I own the Karma Sutra, and yes, my protagonists are athletically inclined. But I just may have met my match with this one. (Nelson and Jessica have already made love in a $350,000 car; on a plane to India; on a cliff of ice; in a forest; on a beach; in a meadow; in the ocean whilst lost at sea and being nipped by sea monsters; in her bedroom adjacent to Mom and Dad; in his bedroom, vice-versa; and even within the manifolds of a four dimensional tesserac and on the surpentine slopes of a Mobius Strip.) Yes, yours truly, aesexual pseudonym, may be running out of ideas. I am beginning to think that I should have married them off 500,000 words ago. Sheesh.
