Actually got the idea from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation I saw the other night, where Scotty from the original series was on a ship that crashed. With life support failing and not enough supplies to survive, he rigged the ship's transporter to put him and another crew member in the transporter's buffer, then go into a diagnostic loop to keep them there. Fifty-odd years later, the new Enterprise comes along, finds the crashed ship, and the crew figures out Scotty and the other crew member are trapped in the transporter buffer, and figure out how to release them. Scotty survived, but unfortunately the other crewmember had degraded in the buffer memory and was not saved. Just took the idea and applied it to a time machine...

 

I knew there was a reason I should be watching Start Trek: The Next Generation. All I can get geared up for is "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home". I love the bounce of Jillians tits and the imprint of her delicious nipples.

I do mean it, though. Great imagination.

 

Sometimes I leave it out in the rain too long and it gets a bit warped...

 

I'm just going to have to let my competitive side loose for this one. I can see it now: It comes down to the final votes, with the seconds ticking away on the clock. Daddycums and ejls are right together, battling it out for first place as they gear up for a what will likely be a photo finish.

But what's this? Out of the pack, a third contestant makes his break. Who can it be? Is it really...? It can't be! He sweeps by Daddycums and ejls to the roaring of the crowd and claims a come-from-behind first place victory. It's the rookie, the underdog, the long shot. It's donb9033!

What? It could happen.

But seriously, I'm not really that competitive. I'll be happy no matter who wins, because at the very least it means a lot of good stories to read.

 

I will be happy, also. This was a marvelous idea from her majesty and I will love to see the result.

This challenge has a lot of meaning to me.

 

I really think the contest is more so for the writers than anything. To instill faith in us that things will turn out okay in the end. By May everything should be sorted on the stories site, but I assume we will continue to vote on here with the poll so things are fair.

 

Yes, freethinker's idea does have hotness. I have never watched/read Star Trek, but for me it is reminiscent of a novel I once read by Peter F. Hamilton, in which the populace of a dying planet is transferred to a wormhole that goes nowhere in space, but extends infinitely in time, essentially putting everyone in stasis and giving the civilization time to rebuild. Not to detract from the excellence of freethinker's idea. All stories have been told. It is our job to reinvigorate them.

BTW, I have come up with an original milieu for my protagonists' honeymoon. Our hero carries his recumbent bride up a ladder which seems endless, from the perspective of her semi-lucid, somnolent state, and he puts her to bed in a sea of feather down, where they, well, you know; and then, just before dawn, she awakens, emerges from a tent, and finds herself among the uppermost boughs of an oak that clings to a hillside; she is kneeling on the deck of a tree fort that her beloved Nelson had once built as a child. Sunlight illuminates the view from behind, and instantly transforms the horizon's snowcapped mountain range from white to her favorite color, pale coral dappled by umber crags. Then, behind her, within the tent from whence she had emerged, upon the sea of feather down, her new and resplendent husband stirs. He emerges. He is ready, and fraught, and absolutely will not be denied. She moans with desire, and wants him. They join; two suns collide and smash the hapless earth between them. And so on. A honeymoon upon a cliffside overlooking the edge of the world and heaven beyond.

Whaddaya think? (The honeymoon is already half written, but opinions are welcomed nonetheless.)

P.S. If you do want to read this scene in context, and have not yet started Book One, I would advise you to begin now. The honeymoon occurs roughly three thousand five hundred hardcover pages into the story.

 

Magnificent A.P., if I had an imagination like yours I would never again feel the need to read a book or watch a movie. What a mind full of lovely images. All I can say is: WOW.

 

If the stories are half as entertaining as this thread has turned out to be, I can hardly wait until May 1st! Now if only I had a clue what to write....

I don’t even know why anyone else would even bother to write. NOTHING anyone else writes could live up to your standards, or in your mind, compare!!!!

If everyone hates what you write, you’ll just flame them for being stupid and not knowing your high quality when they see it. In your mind you should have won even if you lose, and you’ll throw a fit till everyone agrees that the judging wasn’t fair or the rules weren’t explained well enough, and you should be the winner!!!

I don’t care if you like my stories. I don’t write them for you!! If you hate me so much, why even read my stories (I haven’t read ANY of yours). I don’t know what I have done to you, but it must be something. You bring me up in threads I haven’t even posted in!!!

New and Ready

Hey everyone,

So, I've been looking at this website for a long time. It's been my primary place for reading stories and I absolutely adore it. Although I feel there is a lot of amateurish stuff on here (And that's alright, everyone starts somewhere), there are some real gems in here that I love and cherish.

I've wanted to write for the site for a long time. I've been a writer for many years, but I've kept myself more toward Roleplaying on websites like Furcadia. I used to write stories quite often, but I've lacked the motivation as of late. And with the site's (temporary? I hope) loss of comments/ratings, I've been less motivated than ever.

However, this challenge has inspired me to continue writing. I'd love to do this with everyone else and see if I have what it takes to write a story that other people like.

I do feel that the deadline of May 1st is a bit too long. Far too much time to wait for this. But that's just my opinion. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone, wave my hand 'Hello,' and say that this idea is absolutely fabulous. Thank you ejls. I can't wait to read everyone's work.

But I don't mind. This also gives people plenty of time to jump in later with a late start.
