Sorry, things have been pretty hectic in my life and I haven't had much time to write, and what I have written was god awful, I think I will be dropping out of the competition... I hope the rest of you had better luck then me, and I look forward to reading what you come up with

 

I've sooo enjoyed this competition so far, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the end results.
It's been loads of fun (well, at least for me it has), and I hope that lots of other people have enjoyed it, and will enjoy the final part - The Judging

Such a shame guys, I was quite sad to read that there were folks who wanted to take part but couldn't - if there's another competition I hope that you'll be able to get stuck in to that one.

I've enjoyed this, it's inspired me to write stuff, which I never would've bothered to do before.

Well my second story posted a few days ago and already the readers want me to turn it into a series......... *CRIES* I don't want to write another series... please no more series

What about those of us who are little more than halfway through our stories? :wall:

 

I figure Ejls is nervous about competing against talented people and feels that her work is not up to scratch... Though I'm sure it will be fine she has produced some very fine work, it maybe the whole competition thing.

 

My work is what it is, and I know where my place is in the scheme of things. I just don't want to embarass myself.

 

I don't believe any of us think you will embarass yourself. You could post the first 2 pages of the Yellow Pages and we'd love it.

 

I'm with Don on this I don't think you really have anything to worry about... though I am a bit curious on how the judging will work.

 

One vote limit on a poll established by ejls. On polls on the forum, one vote per person is allowed. Pretty simple.

 

No issues with the number of votes here.

 

Just a thought - if it's only one vote per person, won't a lot of people just vote for themselves?
Wouldn't two votes (or maybe even three if there's a lot of stories) be a better idea? Only my thoughts, I'm happy with however it works.

 

Oh Geez, I just now figured out how to set up a poll - please don't add additional votes into the request. I'm counting on the readers, not just the writers to vote. I also plan to put a notice in General Discussion, in hopes of driving more people to the site.

Personally, I am not voting for my own entry. It will not be the best story, either for content or skill. Besides, I don't want to win. Remember, the winner has the option of starting a new contest. *giggle* I'll bet many don't remember that.:rose:

That depends on your sense of humor. Many sites offer cash awards for the three top stories in their contests. A lot of the themes are based on a holiday or time of year. Big 2 weeks ago, were stories with an Earth Day theme. There's Nude Day, winter, etc. I've only ever entered one contest. Wantsomefun came in third on one site. This contest was just meant to be fun, and keep the writer's here.

 

I like that I can write whatever I want the whole no rules thing and I like being able to search for what I want to read when I feel like reading... maybe one day my writing will improve enough.

It's bad enough that trolls and mean-spirited assholes can make idiotic comments on our stories and get away with it, but this?!!!

HEAR ME NOW! I did not make the above comment. One give-away, I guess, is that the comment is short, which, unfortunately is not my style. The biggest give-away, though, is one that most people probably don't know, since I don't hang out here in the forums too much -- I don't bash other people's work. I believe that it is too hard for most of us to write a story to then go and tear someone's work apart. If I can't give a compliment or a constructive criticism, I hold my peace and don't comment at all.

Sheeesh, the nerve of some people! Clever, though, in an under-handed way. I guess someone thought it would be fun to try to start shit among the writers by posting negative comments and attributing them to someone else.
