If they claim that at least 10% of the population is homosexual, then how much of the population is bisexual? No one ever talks about this segment of the population. And how much of a percentage jump does this add to the homosexual population??

I think everyone has some bisexual/homosexual thoughts once in a while. I think the percent of the population would never be recorded properly in a survey or census because people don't often tell the truth to people in that situation.

I'd guess 10/25/65 if it were up to me, but I live in the bible belt and all so my numbers would be different than a San Franciscoans.

I think your percentages are off - they don't come close to 100 percent, unless you remove all the decimals and add them up.

 

I think it cuts out straight answers. For example...

Nothing wrong with being bisexual as long as you are comfortable with it which most aren't. But sex is for enjoyment and in a good comfortable situation it doesn't matter who does what.

my ex was bisexual though and we talked about this alot. he definitely was equally attracted to girls and guys, both sexually and romantically. however, there are a lot of people who like one gender for relationships, and the other purely for sex, but i've seent his go in all directions... i.e. bi man likes women for sex and men for relationships and vice versa, or bi woman likes women for sex and men for relationships and vice versa. i still consider that bisexual though.

Most people are at least mildly bi. I'm not one of them. Look up the Kinsey Scale. People are fairly evenly distributed across it.

 

I am always suprised how much people in this forum get stuck on labels.

If you define gay as ONLY interested in your own gender, and straight as ONLY intererested in the opposite gender, and BI is every one else, then I suspect that the vast majority are Bi. I have actually met relatively few gays who have no interest at all in the opposite sex, maybe less than 10% of the gays I have known. I have also met few straight people who are the least bit honest who haven't had at least some curiosity about the opposite sex.

On the other hand, if you define gay as preferring your own gender, straight as preferring the opposite gender, and Bi as no preference at all, then I suspect the number calling themselves "Bi" is pretty small. I have met a few, but only a small few, who truly have no preference at all.

I think it makes much more sense to think of sexuality as a continuum rather than putting people in boxes of "gay" "straight" and "bi."

If you think of a scale where "1" is only gay- no interest in the opposite sex, and 10 as only straight, no interest in the same sex, I would say I am about an 8 or 9. Does that make me bi because I am anything other than a 10?

I definitely prefer women, but I have had a couple of fairly rocking experiences including guys. I don't call that straight or bi- I call it...
