There should be no such thing as a "repeat" offender. Fry their ass first offense. Why is it that we keep letting repeat child molesters out of jail to do it again? the guy that raped and killed Chelsea King has done this multiple times. what is the loophole in the justice system that is failing to protect children?

Many liberals have an exaggerated confidence in the efficacy of rehabilitation. I have a well justified confidence in the efficacy of long prison sentences. The only thing that reliably reduces recidivism is age.

yes but why are they getting let out. to me a good penalty is death. that sounds harsh, but i bet it would all but stop if all convicted rapist were put to death. then there would be no worries of them getting out to do it again.

If a law maker has ever really looked into the eyes of an abused child and felt the pain of these kids, how in the hell can they not make a law that says ok if you do this shit you are going to fry. i mean hell they will do more time for tax evasion than child rape. i guess we know what the government really thinks more of

well for some crimes yes it may be. but for this type crime i don't think anything can be harsh enough.

 

I honestly dont understand it, it is just disgusting, how they are treated. Any physical crime against a child under the age of 13 should be a DEATH SENTENCE, simple as that.

My first girlfriend turned 18 a month before I turned 16. Other than breaking my heart when she went off to college, I don't wish her any ill will. I certainly don't wish electric chair/gallows/etc. 10 minutes with my family would be fine. My mother was quite fond of her.

 

I must confess that I once thought of criminals as victims of social and economic injustice who deserved remedial education and job training. I thought a criminal was a decent guy who never had a decent chance.

After being the victim of several violent felonies, I hate criminals and want them to suffer.

The American justice system has too many different influence that determine the outcome of a particular sentence, some I agree with, and some are extremely questionable.

 

There is no "cure" as you say: Just because we kill one or many does not mean it will end; there are false accusations, unreported assaults, murders of victims, and ontop of this, more rapists are out there.

I believe in rehabilitation, but part of this process is relapse.

Repeat offenders should, in my oppinion, be imprisoned for life without parole.
But before that they should have to register as such and go door to door having to tell every nieghbor what they did, place a sign in their yard that marks them for their life in that place, wear something that monitors their location at all times and have to see a psychologist once a week until they die.
