You know I've been expecting this subject to come up here, and if it didn't it should because we have some of these people, or at least people who are excited by sexual abuse of children, and I have to admit I am more torn and confused about this issue than any other I can remember confronting.

And of course what has me torn about this is it seems like hardly a week goes by there is not some repeat sex offender who has graduated to rape and murder. Now, the one thing agree on is we can't be putting up with that, especially when the rape and murder of kids and women are involved.

But damned if I've come up with a satisfactory answer in my own mind about what we as a society should do about. Or what can be done. About the only thing I am sure of is what we've got is not working and in many ways is making the situation worse.

I was hoping there would be some people willing to discuss this intelligently and honestly. Maybe I'll check back later and see if there is.

Because it's bullshit. There are many countries that have the death sentence and still have very high crime rates, so the argument that the death sentence brings a halt to it is exploded from the start.

They have different classifications of sexual assault, from lewd conduct to the most extreme of sodomizing a child. If charged with the most serious we could make it a federal offense and subject those convicted to the same system of mandatory minimums the feds use to bury drug dealers in this country. If a federal judge has to sentence me to twenty years with no parole for the cultivation/dist. of marijuana, then let him be giving forty year sentences to the child molesters. We could designate/build fed pens for child sex offenders exclusively. Wouldn't even need protective custody expense, they all being baby rapers, nothing there to arouse them. The fact that they're arguing that people should NOT be released after serving their sentenced time is also sad. I will concede that sometimes they're still a danger, but they served their debt to society. This is another reason why a mental institution is better.

Do you know how much DNA you carry around daily? Unless that DNA is implanted in said victim, it's entirely possible that it was transfer... and it's come out in recent years that sometimes those samples get mixed up in labs or not processed correctly.
