By the way, I heard a REALLY funny one today. Some Republicans are actually trying to sell the idea that the fund that would be set up under the banking reform bill, which is paid for by the banks themselves, is actually a tax, because the banks would pass the cost through to their customers.

By that logic, the federal government can't do anything that would cost big business a dime. Because, don't you know, that would be a tax on you and me!

No president in my lifetime has confronted more serious problems on more different fronts than President Obama when he took off. Two wars, a world recession caused by the US and a recession turning to depression in the US.

Those are real problems and hit people hard, and especially people who have to work for a living. So the first problem was the economy. Then health care. One because its 100 years over due and two because our health care costs are dragging our economy down. And almost as important new energy policies. You know there's an awful lot of people so hysterical over President Obama they haven't even noticed all he's accomplished. And by the time they do, it will be too late.

That's what irrational and illogical brainwashed bullshit will get you.

Wait a minute - Bush reduced the taxes of the middle class? Say what? The dems have been telling us for years that the Bush tax cuts only applied to the rich. Could it be that (gasp) they lied? Now the dems are considering rolling back Bush tax cuts on lower income families to bridge the deficit the health care legislation created. All I can say is....wow.

 

I do not remember anyone saying that Bush only cut taxes for the rich. I do remember reading from several sources that 41% of his tax cuts went to the richest 1% of the country. Reagan's tax cuts had a similar effect.

I also know that under Reagan and Bush the unemployment rate reached levels unreached under Carter and Clinton, and there was less job creation under Reagan and Bush than under Carter and Clinton. I have documented this under many occasions. If I still need to prove it, you weren't paying attention.

It does one little good to have his taxes cut, only to lose one's job and be unable to find anything that pays nearly as much. That happened to far more people when Reagan and Bush were president, than during the presidencies of Carter and Clinton.
