I don't think I will continue with this debate since I don't think it will ever lead to anything but more debate and acrimony. I am discouraged by the general lack of integrity in the prosecution of this debate. As a tactic some individuals deliberately ignore the main issues and go off on tangents and focus on minor points so they can characterize themselves as experts and their opponents as ignorant dolts. They’d do well to read the words found in Mathew 7:4-5.

4 How wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

It is obvious that their ego centered arguments are not aimed at finding truth but only made to prove that they are of grater intellect and knowledge. They accomplish nothing with their arguments but lead themselves and others deeper into deception. So, before anyone listens to those who say; ‘you can not prove Jesus existed because there is no proof in written history… and… I need no proof because my faith is pure while you trust in hollow and childish things.’ I say… read Mathew Chapter7:15–16.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits...

I’m afraid that by continuing to respond to these people I'm only encouraging them to continue their angry and misguided rhetoric. In a vain attempt to win the argument they will dig deeper and deeper into the depths of their intellectual abyss to find proof of that which can only be know by guided faith and direct revelation. If they really wanted to know God they would go directly to the source as advised in Mathew 7:7-8.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

That is the last bit of advice I will give on this subject. As for myself, I think I will follow the prescription given in Mathew 7:6.

6 Give not that which is holy unto the unbelievers, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

HD, you seem like a nice guy and I've certainly got nothing against you. But you really should have learned by now that you're unlikely to win an argument against atheists by quoting scripture. It's like thumping your bible with your hand and saying: "It's all RIGHT HERE, I tell you!" It's a circular argument -- I believe in God and Jesus because the Bible says I should.

 

Jesus didn't fulfill the prophesies. That is why the Jews are not Christians.
