Depends on how you look at it. The authors of the Gospels tried very hard to prove that Jesus DID fulfill Old Testament Prophecies. In some cases, it proved to be quite a stretch.

Well some things are too tough to disprove. Like the Messiah cannot be God nor can he die for other's sins, according to the Jews. And he must restore Israel and bring all peace to the world or something like that.

 

No where have you proven the existence of Jesus the Nazarine, nor have you proven that the mythilogical person is the messiah. You for sure have not on any thread proven the existence of any god and it is your duty to provide evidence if you put forward a thesis.

 

The dead sea scrolls refer to both jesus and events around the time in detail. That, along with other text from the period, means I am inclined to believe in his physical existence as a human being. I don't believe he was any more than a charismatic jewish teacher however. If other people want to believe he was more than that, well that's their choice. I only disagree with people trying to force their religion down your throat. All this arguing over who's belief is right is pointless. Unless a deity comes down from heaven or w/e the masses will probably never know which religion or belief is right. Until that day I'm quite happy to go on with my own beliefs and leave everyone else to theirs

 

The Dead Sea Scrolls were dated to the second century. There's no dispute that Christianity existed at that point.

I've read Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" about three times now. I have a good grasp of the views expressed in his book and each time I read it I understand it a little better. Basically I agree with Mr. Hawking's view of the Universe. I never considered the Bible an accurate account of how the universe was created. I read the Bible for its spiritual message.

I'm now studying "String Theory" and trying to understand Quantum Physics. For me, science does not contradict the concept of God, rather it reinforces it. Maybe someday I'll explain how I've been able to conform my belief in both science and God. Not to try and convince you, just to share and get some of your thoughts. I don't think anyone can be convinced that there is a God. You have to feel it. It's a little like love.

I like Michio's theory about levels of society, we are still 1 but later we can create our own suns... The bible is the best selling book of all time so I was trying to joke like I always do...I can possibly see religion being lost to the future, do schools even know what mythology is? much less geology? When it comes to knowledge it's free but you have to work for it like scientists do. I am no genius, I simply play 1 on here...
