  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I don't trust any politician, they are all appearing to be in it as a way of making a good easy living. If they worked or behaved like they do in the private sector then they would be promoted sideways, fired and in all probability facing a judge looking for a lenient sentence because of fraud/theft.

Most folk would not let them babysit, yet they let them run the country.

A+ ;-) your learning richief. When everyone here agrees with me I will leave, ok :excited: With all the pervs in Washington I am sure they would love to babysit in more ways than one. Washington DC does not have to be accountable to anyone other than the voters, maybe to themselves but as you can see they are not.

Your own article blames Nixon! I think the general endurance of distrust has to do with half the government running on an anti-government platform persistently since the southern realignment.

Interesting thing though, if you look at the graph and note the spikes - the two largest spikes also coincide with major government initiatives to reform health care. It would be interesting to see someone take a scholarly examination of that.

When the United States began the 1960's the American consensus was that the government, under the leadership of the Democrat Party, had ended the Great Depression and won the Second World War.

In 1964 President Johnson declared, "unconditional war on poverty." Causal relationships in politics cannot be proven, because we cannot go back in history, choose a different policy, and measure different results. Nevertheless, causal relationships exist, and are usually suspected.

The War on Poverty was followed by five years of black ghetto riots, and more durable increases in black social pathology. As a result, when Ronald Reagan said, "Government is not the solution to our problem, it is the problem," most white Americans agreed with him. They still do.

Do you think they're going to trust the government YOU want? The voters threw that government out a year and a half ago. Is your memory that short?

Conservatives, by running constantly against the government and convincing themselves that it's incapable of doing anything right (even as they strive to run it themselves) have succeeded in poisoning the well. That's unfortunate....but the fact of the matter is, government should NOT be blindly trusted. Voters should be vigilant and insist that their government serve the public interest.

Shortly after 9/11, a Republican congress passes the Patriot Act, a series of laws and legislation decried by Democrat's as the single largest step to Big Brother and the ultimate attack on American values and freedoms.

Nine years or so later, those selfsame Democrats vote to keep the Patriot Act in place, intact and as is.

Now, that's not meant as a partisan slam. Republicans get their own smear in doing absolutely nothing to curb government spending when they hold office. Yeah, sure, wars are expensive. That's a given. But where was the cutbacks on the rest of government? And why are the same politicians running on a "Government butt out!" platform trying to pass laws that are based solely on the religious beliefs of certain sects?

Gee, wonder why people don't trust government? I say its because both parties are complete and utter asses at this point.

I think the government is being scapegoated for problems that may be insolvable. In order to be elected politicians need to make unrealistic promises. Politicians who tell the truth, like Walter Mondale did during his acceptance speech in 1984, do not get elected.

I'm willing to elect my neighbor at this point, maybe my cat? the corruption seems to have boiled over with Obama, Nancy, Harry, Rahm, and Robert leading the way with the House and the Senate following suit. People are angry, they should be... +

They should be angry at themselves. They demand spending programs, including a huge military, they are unwilling to pay for. They insist on levels of private and public consumption the U.S. economy cannot support.

:) We should be angry at electing leaders who only want to enlarge the government at our expense, kill businesses and sell future generations out for their wasteful spending. We have the best standard of living anywhere, we are a dominant superpower (thank god) and we help whoever needs it, are you kidding Distant Lover? When our elected leaders started liking the idea of control over our health decisions that is when I say emphatically NO.

Conservatives REALLY Want to Cut Spending… Except…

There are various ways to measure standard of living. One most agreed on in the United States is per capita gross domestic product. According to the CIA World Factbook, the United States is number 11. Norway, with one of the most advanced social democratic economies in the world, is number 5.
    https://www.cia.gov/library/publica...tates&countryCode=us&regionCode=na&rank=11#us

Also, very few conservatives in the United States genuinely want specific spending cuts.

    -------

"Rank-and-file conservatives actually like big government. In 2008, the American National Election Study asked a national sample whether federal spending on 12 different programs should be increased, decreased or kept about the same...the respondents who identified themselves as “conservative” or “extremely conservative” had little appetite for specific spending cuts...Amazingly, the survey found that, on average, 54 percent of them actually wanted to increase spending."

Some conservatives do want specific spending cuts, but they never say that to voters, because those specific spending cuts are wildly unpopular. That's what George Bush found out when he went after Social Security.

Goverment will always be the down fall of any country in one way or another,we do live in a country that has rights for its citizens, but those rights grow smaller every year as goverment grows larger.Social Security is a prime example of a goverment program gone wrong,i feel that the health care bill recently pasted will be another program that will fail sooner or later/a prime example of this is the VA hospitals that are a goverment program, wait for months to get an appointment and then wait for results, so on and so on.What are they planning to so with public health care, run it like other goverment programs, lets hope not. Blaming one polical party will ot solve the problems that we face now and what we will face in the future.I hope that im wrong but i feel we are in serious trouble no matter who is in office. I feel thy should haveterm limits on elected officials, like Congress and Supreme court justices.Honestly fihting among yourselves wont solve the problem, like in the military you basicly did what was needed and that was that, what this country needs is some one who cares enough to do the right thing and the smart thing, havent seen it yet and most likely wont see it at all/master chief:(

Hmmm...okay, I'll bite. What do you think has gone wrong with Social Security?

And as far as the VA is concerned, would you prefer to have NO health benefits and be in the position of purchasing them on the private market?
