  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Once again...I grow weary of reminding people of this.Over half of the dollars currently authorized for circulation are outside the united States. As the percentage of dollars out side our economy rises the government must authorize more dollars in order to maintain the balance of our economy. This money has left our country as a consequence of over reliance on foreign goods and oil and a lack of domesticly produced goods. In other words, trade deficit. We have also shipped many of our formerly living wage jobs out of the country in an effort to reduce cost and improve profitability. The result has been lower and lower wages and benefits and increased costs as the dollar is devalued.

We have,in fact, plenty of money to support socialized medical care.We have plenty of money to support any number of other socialized programs at the same time. The problem is getting access to the dollars we need to do that and until our government decides to make it more profitable for companies to do business here in this country and more costly to aquire foreign made products as opposed to domesticly produced goods this debate will rage on and on and on.

There is nothing...not one thing...not even alittle bit in our laws or consitution that prohibit socializing anything. The problem is the cost versus the money available and the lack of even baisic accountability in our various levels of formal government.Yes,its true that we are all in fact "the government." However, we live in a representative republic so we...the people...elect others to do the real work. And as long as we fail to hold these people accountable things are going to be screwed up.And to make matters worse there is a fundimental lack of accountability in the various government agencies that carry out the "will of the people." Sit and have a couple beers with anyone who works for any government agency and they will tell you horror stories about the waste that exists in thier office.multiply that by the number of agencies and then by the number of offices that each agency maintains and one quickly discovers that the system is very broken.

Socialism isnt the problem...the problem is a system that doesnt support the level of accountability that is needed to make it work.We live in what is arguably the wealthiest nation the planet has ever seen.We argualbly have the resorces and the man power and the brain power to be far more than the pathetic achevements we have made would indicate. But getting people out of thier own heads and engaged in the system to make it better stands as the greatest chalenge that America has ever faced.Because of our collective wealth and skill and ability there is no justifyable reason that any person living in the united States shouldnt have enough.Having enough should be a simple matter of waking up in the morning as an American. If you want more than enough then thats where work comes into play. But enough shouldnt be a problem.

Here's an idea: We close the federal government completely, until and unless there's a clear need for some law or other. No government, no politicians, no parties at all.

A much more recent book by Fox News hack Andrew Napolitano used the same title...that may be the one he's referring to.

Now, let's not get all crazy. I never mentioned schools, police, firemen, the military, etc. I specifically said government. Big difference, there. Besides, most of those are State and local institutions.

Although, simply closing (or consolidating) a few Federal agencies certainly couldn't hurt (starting with the IRS. After all, if they can't collect well they can't spend as much.) The only problem there is, that'd keep the damn politicians in Washington longer, in order to make those decisions.

Right, you don't like to admit that "government" actually delivers services and provides functions that you utilize and depend on. And when pressed, you say it's the FEDERAL government you don't like...not LOCAL government, which is okay.

I just get really tired of this conservative mantra. If you don't like something that the government is doing, be specific.

Oh, and with regard to the IRS....what exactly do you think the IRS is doing other than the job Congress assigned to it, by passing tax laws? And why don't you want the IRS to DO its legally-mandated job?

Americans distrust this government because this is a government for the rich capitalists, by the rich capitalists, and of the rich capitalists, and the rest of us can go to hell.

Yea... that's the heart of the libertarian creed, right there (it used to be the central plank to the Republican platform as well, back before the "conservative coalition" people stole the party). The Federal government is the boogie man. Any large centralized organization is bad, almost by definition. Decentralization is the key.

I don't like the governement getting involved in the police, the schools, the health care system, etc... The Federal government should be providing a military, because providing for all of our common defense is vital. More importantly, economies of scale are extreme when it comes to defense.

None of this says that I don't want some government services (or even many). What it does say is that I don't want people in California making decisions for those of us in New York, or vice versa. I don't want people in the countryside making decisions on what's good for the city, and I don't think that the cities should be dictating policy to the rural governments. Why some monolithic central government is considered better then a bunch of small local institutions is beyond me.

As for the IRS, I'd think that would be blindingly obvious. I don't want them doing their job because I'd like to keep my money. Nothing surprising there. I know that I'll spend it better then the Federal government does, regardless. Just because those idiots in Congress think that they're gods gift to the country doesn't mean that I believe them.
