  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

On the other hand, it may simply be the total amount owed by income tax filers, including penalties, that has not been paid. That number I'm sure they have accurate calculations of.

This is what pisses me off

More than 3 percent of the 2.8 million federal civilian employees owed the Treasury unpaid federal income taxes in 2008, according to the IRS. If you include retirees and military service members, the numbers go from nearly 100,000 up to 276,000 current or former workers who owe $3 billion in taxes.

Federal Employees Owe Over 3 Billion In IRS Back Taxes
    December 14th, 2009
The IRS released some data on the matter and about 276,000 “federal employees and retirees owe $3,042,200,000.”

I guess... It doesn't seem very rational to me to excuse the pricks that work for the IRS simply because Congress gave them permission to be assholes. Being a sap just isn't in my character, I guess. Just because they have authority doesn't mean that I must accept that they do, or listen. I rather enjoy trying to fuck over those who are given authority (those who earn it are entirely different).

Be pissed off if you like. Just don't expect any sympathy from me. To the extent that you don't pay what you owe, all the rest of us have to pay more.

So, how does that debt, per capita, compare to the rest of the population?

    Democrats pull tax cheat bill

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/33933.html

staffers to pay back taxes or lose their jobs was pulled from House committee markup today after Democrats hit the brakes.

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that oversees government workers, told POLITICO he was concerned that the legislation would kick workers to the curb before it could be determined if the IRS had erred.

“The employee can fight it, but they don’t have a job,” Lynch said during a committee markup today.
“In 80 percent of [default] cases there is a dispute,” Lynch later told POLITICO. “The people are arguing with the IRS about business expenses, non-business expenses, deductions, tax credits and exemptions. And in a lot of these cases, the IRS turns out to be wrong. I’m not sure how many of those cases apply to Senate and House staffers, but just because you’re fighting with the IRS doesn’t mean you’re wrong.”
The legislation sponsored by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) would cause federal employees who defaulted on their taxes to lose their jobs, including the hundreds of congressional and Hill staffers who owe the government millions of dollars.

In 2008 alone, 447 House employees and 231 Senate workers didn’t pay their taxes, according to figures from the IRS, Office of Personnel Management, and Department of Defense. Federal employees in the U.S. House of Representatives owed more than $5.8 million in unpaid taxes in 2008. The Senate employees owe more than $2.46 million, according to figures

Oh bullshit. The federal government (more accurately, Congress) doesn't rely on tax collection in order to determine spending. Tax bills do not increase (or change at all) because of tax evasion. We're not talking about shoplifting here... or any real finance, to be blunt about it. Federal finance, including tax collection, is all pretty much made up ad hoc.

As of 2007 there are 138,000,000 tax payers in the US.

    The Congresscritters are 270,000

270,000/138,000,000 is 1.95% of the tax paying population.

They owe $3,000,000,000 out the $354,000,000,000 the IRS claims is missing. (Using Kimiko's numbers on the tax debt, and Randyknight's for the population. Total taxpayers is according to 2007 IRS databook, via Wikipedia.)

3,000,000,000/354,000,000,000 is .847% of the tax debt.

Feel free to check my math, I might have erred somewhere.

So it's not quite a pandemic. Still, the truly guilty parties (not just the accused) should probably be dismissed from their jobs.
