Here's the point I'm actually driving at in case it has gotten lost. The prohibition of drugs and putting people in jail for using them is much more harmful than the drugs themselves.

 

For some reason you are starting to remind of my old buddy Fanfiction. This still makes no sense to me at all and simply restating the same garbled message doesn't clear it up for me.

 

I consider myself a experienced and responsible drug user. I have tried many pills like Xanax, Vicodin, Oxy , Ambien.. used X, acid, and shrooms and have smoked ganja for around 5 years and used many other unusual drugs such DXM , DMT , Nutmeg , Ether , Opium.. I also recently tried cocaine. I have never once had a problem with substance addiction ever. I am unsure if I am just very good at controling my usage, or what, but I just never have to deal with it. I practice alot of self control in my use of drugs to prevent OD and Addiction. I have never taken a drug before looking at Erowid for less than a week before consumption. I spent 2 weeks thinking about if I really wanted to do cocaine, and if I could contain the moderate craving for it. I was successful. You just need to be careful with drugs. I think of them much like powerful fireworks. They are really fun and cool, but you need to respect them and use them with care. Drugs are meant to be used sparingly. Except for cannabis, because it is so incredibly safe. It isnt right to say that drugs cause addiction. You become addicted because you are a weak person who cant control themselves. A person who is that mentaly weak should never be near drugs.

 

And the same for alcoholics I drank my share and never came to the point where I couldn't walk away from it

let me make it clear i pretty much agree with what youve said and share most of your philosophy while not as cold and apathetic as you..

im merely reffering to your statement that you do not believe that it is the government's job to regulate drug and alcohol consumption.. which youve stated in a previous post..

what im asking you is.. if you dont think its the government's job.. then whose job is it??

cause obviously we cant do it on an individual basis.. not in america anyway.. we're killing each other out there over drugs and alcohol.. so again.. who should take up the responsibility??

 

Hey, isn't the last thing on the list the only illegal thing on it. I mean I bet deathes while illegally whaleing or hunting americian bald egales are pretty low too. You left them off your list. If you legalize drugs it will cause that number to start increasing expoentally.

 

drugs are good as long as you're smart enough to know when too much is too much and when you should be doing them!

Glad you clarified that. Here in America it is actually the people's job to regulate the government but we as a people do a pretty poor job of that. It is the government's job to enforce laws, and those laws should serve and protect the public. However, the government should not interfer in people's lives, nor make crimes out of activities that do not harm the person, and property of another.

And I disagree that we cannot control ourselves. In fact the vast majority of US citizens do it every day. The opposite is also true repressive laws foster rebellion and reckless behavior.

Now if you're saying that the government must prohibit certain drugs because we don't know what people might do under their influence, that dog won't hunt because there is no way to tell what any given human being might do at any given time, which I already illustrated in a previous post.

 

Not true and here is what I would give as evidence. First the consumption of alcohol, deaths from alcohol, and alcoholism increased during prohibition and decreased after alcohol became legal again.

Also as to your own experiences which you posted earlier, one or more of the deaths, were the direct result of the black market conditions. It drugs were legal noone would be getting shot in the back of the head over them. Likewise accidental over doses would be far fewer if people could rely on both the purity and strength of the drugs they were using.

Finally when Gore Vidal was running for president in 1976 (I think it was) and favored legalization of drugs he pointed out the same things I have and added one more. There would not be an increase in drug usuage because drug addiction does in fact kill and since most people don't want to die most people will not do drugs.

As stated in mine and a few other posts, the prohibition of substances makes them much more attractive to some people. Also prohibition of drugs creates a black market where drug addicts paying inflated black market prices tend to create more addicts so they have someone to sell drugs to in order to support their habit. That is what actually spreads drug use exponentally.

PS the statistics on the number of deaths simply illustrates that if our government was really interested in the public's health there are much more serious problems facing us than drug addiction or drug usuage.

 

Well the fucking government have already made me a second rate citizen. I can't smoke in any of their fedral buildings yet I feel I've helped pay for there construction. In my state their raising state tax on a pack of smokes to help young folks not want to pay the high prices for them fucking bullshit Second hand smoke they say is worst than smoking bullshit again. The neighboors fucking lawn mower is putting out more second hand smoke than I do But their mowing the lawn at the court house with one . I realise smoking is a bad habit and I know it's adictive but when I started smoking Doctors were doing adds on which cigarette was best for you lol this is a crazy world I need a big drink
