Why did you pick you're name?

I picked mine becuase i was eating tuna at 1 in the morning and i saw this place and i thought huh make a fishy name. I even wanted a crab or some fish but failed and got a pokemon that is goofy. That is my name but...my top 3 changes would be

Me - most people call me Jayney, and my hair is red. Simple enough, for a country girl like me :laughing:

I didn't pick my name----my parents did. Well......my first and middle names, anyway. I was stuck with my last name, same as my Dad and his Dad before him and as far back as it goes----so I guess none of us picked our last name except that first guy---whoever he was (or if you had your name legally changed).

Now, my Mom's a different story, because even though it's traditional, she didn't HAVE to take my Dad's name--technically. But even HER Mom and Dad picked HER first name for her---she didn't have a choice.

So, in a way, it runs in our family. None of us ever picked our names. Our names are just our names. In fact, aren't they even called your "GIVEN NAME"??? Not your "chosen name".

I think some societies allow members to choose their own name after some kind of rite of passage, but not around here....

....so, no---I did not pick my name.

Why, did you? (Pick your own name----not mine. I already told you----MY parents did that.)

 

At the risk of seeming picky..what the hell..I am picky. You're means you are, for example, "you're gorgeous " the post should read "Your name: why why why"

I have a cool naming tradition in my family. The first name of the oldest male is the first name of the mother's father. The oldest male's middle name is the first name of the father's father. And the last name is the family surname.

My screen name was an unintentional typo. I really can spell honest.
Onenaughtygirl is my online persona for all non family interactions.
I would hate to traumatize my mother.

 

My screen name is for obvious reasons. Other three names I thought about using:

1. Small Cawked Ninja Warrior

2. Fail Cake

3. Kind of a Big Deal

I'm using an old CB handle that I hadn't used in nearly 30 years.

 

mine came from a nicname from the firehouse i worked at as somehow someone found out i have american indian in my blood and i was thought of being slightly crazy so i became crazyazaindian

 

I chose itiswhatitis ..... because it is nondescript.
