  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Yes and that is precisely the problem that baller (and I, for that matter) are trying to illustrate.

    WE CALL EARTH MOTHER
AND WE ARE ALL MOTHER FUCKERS
    WE EAT HER FLESH
    DRINK HER BLOOD
    TAKE HER LOVE FOR GRANTED
WE RAPE HER AND HURT HER
AND FEED HER POISON IN RETURN.
WE WILL REAP ALL WE HAVE PLANTED
    REST ASSURED!

Hybrids are going to be ubiquitous fairly quickly, here.

Sorry to say though... there's really not much we can do that has any impact. Recycling is actually a net loss, energy wise, except in some very limited cases. :(

The biggest thing to tackle is base energy production. We need to switch to producing, transporting, and consuming Hydrogen, now.

Quoted for troof. I'm a big fan of hydrogen use. I truly think WAY down the road the electric hydrid auto will be a short term fad and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be a more long term solution once the massive infrastructure is eventually in place. That will be of course, once the oil industry has exhausted most of the profitable oil and decides that they want to switch to making money in hydrogen. It sounds a bit far out there but I really think we'll see it, perhaps towards the end of my lifetime.

I don't think recycling is a net loss in a lot of cases, i'll have to do some research though. I was under the impression it was about 50/50.

Back home where the cows roam free the corn ethanol is the big craze. Some sold it by saying it is more e-friendly but in almost every single plant it is a net loss because of the production aspect of not only the e10/e85 but just corn production in general. It doesn't do much to curb oil use and it has driven up corn prices so high it pretty much killed the cattle feeding market in a lot of areas.

When it comes to recycling, you've gotta be real choosy with sources... most of them are homers, these days (they have some vested interest in promoting recycling), and they're really good at disguising it.

The fact is, that when you correctly factor in all of the original production costs, multiple transport costs, and multiple production costs... recycling is a huge energy drain. Why do you think that it took so long to become established?

...still, I wouldn't end recycling. It doesn't really solve energy and pollution issues, but it does help resolve some tough resource issues (including land use).

Yeah, honestly land use is the biggest positive for it that I see, no matter how efficient it is or isn't.

But energy is unlimited; the Sun pours out a million times as much of it as we're ever going to be capable of using. Resources are not unlimited; the planet is only yea big and doesn't get (noticeably) any bigger.

So recycling is the way to go, provided we also get a sensible source of solar energy instead of pissing about with tides, wind, bits of dead tree and all the other junk.

As for legalizing pot ... well, in the case of alcohol even the US Government only took thirteen years to realize that banning a drug is a goddamn stupid idea and makes the drug problem ever worse. How is it they're taking so long to figure out that what was true for that drug is also true for all of the others?

Hubby and I are looking into purchasing an earth-friendly house. I am especially interested in Earthships, which are made of old tires and are self-insulating. There are a lot of options to make at least a small difference!

Here's what a friend of mine recently said:
I've repeted all of this stuff so often now, that it's just easier to quote others quoting me...
    *sigh*

Still trying to bring him (and others) around on the rest of the drug war, though. Legality just isn't any sort of solution...

take a tenth of the money currently spent on enforcement and prisons, and spend that on rehab and testing programs. That's the way to actually solve the drug problems. Of course... if you solve the problem, that meas certain people's pockets will no longer be lined, so that's not gonna happen.

it's been proven more people killed in car accidents from being on cell phones and texting over pot or drunk drivers.

So you're saying that it's okay to drive under the influence of anything?

One person unnecessarily killed is too many.
