My personal observation is that Barack Obama is the most intelligent, effective and hard working president I've ever seen in my lifetime. He's brought the nation back from the brink of economic collapse, championed health care reform through, and is now in the process of trying to get Americans to end our addiction to oil and create the millions of jobs and trillions of dollars we can gain by producing our own fuels.

And I'm pretty sure now and two years from now you'll find a lot more people agree with me than you.

 

I don't understand how you Yanks can profess to 'hate' your president. Dislike his policies, maybe, but hate him?

I have no antipathy towards your president, I care not whether he is liked or disliked, I have looked at his performance and so far I guess he is the best you have had since I was born, and that includes the "Philanderer in Chief" Kennedy, Johnson the warmonger, Nixon the criminal, Ford and Carter just blend into a banal few years, followed by the "Actor" Reagan, Mr Starwars himself, then comes Bush the senior who took us into a lovely war in the desert and when it got to bloody stopped us doing our job, followed by the "Philanderers apprentice" Clinton who would fuck anything with a skirt, taking us into Bush junior who must have been dropped on hos head as a baby, who sent our youth off to finish the job his daddy couldn't, after 8 years of his malapropisms and grammatical blunders we get Obama the "Peaceful", well I guess we can let history decide but I still think he got his Norwegian medal for political and not peaceful reasons.

"Yanks" don't. I was not a supporter of President Bush, but I never confessed - nor heard one of my left-wing associates confess - a hatred towards President Bush personally. This behavior is solely the product of right-wing Americans that, I believe, secretly hate democracy because it requires them to tolerate people different from them.

 

The irony is, I think he's not doing enough, and is not forceful enough, while the other side seems to think he's leading the country on an expressway straight to hell.

But I understand the hatred people can fall prey to. Towards the end of the Bush administration, I couldn't bear to even listen to him for 30 seconds. I loathed everything about that man, without exception.

In the case of Obama, these people listen to a constant 24/7 harangue from right-wing talk radio, telling them that Obama is a Christian-hating, anti-American, socialist, baby-killing, gun-banning, Muslim half-breed bent on destroying all the things that made America great. If even one percent of that stuff sinks in, it's enough to turn them into haters.

 

As I said above, I plead guilty to harboring a visceral hatred of George Bush. It's probably important to add, though, that I never advocated an armed revolt against him, as some one the right are doing today, in that ever-so-subtle way of theirs.

 

Typical liberal: Blame society and the media for the right's stupidity. When the revolution comes and we shove them up against the wall, conservatives shall truly learn the meaning of the phrase, "personal responsibility."
