I'm not demanding anything at all - I have no vested interest in the Tea Partiers or those who have chosen to clasp onto their "message" (whatever it is). My post was intended as a suggestion, if the Tea Partiers wish to become a legitimate 3rd party force, and not just a sidebar in the history books. I'd like to see it happen, but they have a few very significant problems to address, including the perceived tolerance of racism within their leadership and rank-and-file. As a thinking person, they are currently easy to dismiss for that reason alone.

I ask no such thing, I have never asked any person or organization to apologize for their racism (real or perceived) & I never would. In fact, the opposite is true - I'd like them to be quite clear about their bigotry and prejudices so that I can make a clear choice about supporting or ignoring them. Right now the Tea Partiers make themselves very easy to ignore - except for the unintentional entertainment factor

I have personally sat with blatant and obviously proud racist folk, men and women, young and old, that have identified themselves as "Tea Party" members. There was no doubt they felt very comfortable expressing their utter disdain for Mr Obama, and any other brown-skinned authority figure they could run up the flagpole. Harry Reid was dismissed as a 'faggot', Nancy Pelosi was surely a 'bulldyke' and the Jews are all running the media and the banks. All of this in supposedly liberal Northern CA!

Not one of these people could discuss in any depth the specific political viewpoint they were against - not one of them knew Reid's position on gun control, or Pelosi's record on voting for corporate tax relief. They were just average and angry people that have been made uncomfortable by a difficult economy, looking for a place to aim their rage. All of this is my personal experience - and it is, of course, anecdotal - but it does match the tone and substance of the so-called leadership of the Tea Partiers, as far as I can see.

Believe me, and you can ask any of the staunch left-wingers here, I'd love to see the emergence of a strong 3rd party as much, or more, than anybody else hereabouts - but, I think the TP ain't gonna make it :???:

The Tea Party has, thus far, done nothing that we have not seen before, and a few of their bad apples have uttered nothing we have not heard before.
