No misunderstandings here. Mods can pretty much do what they want in the name of whatever they say. I have belonged to forums since they were hosted on BBS sites. Mods are people. They respond to the needs of their forum and are supposed to work within the forum guidelines, but people carry personal agendas. No person is completely impartial. No getting around that.

I could name some sites that have "Hanging" Mods. It's awful watching a site lose it's best contributors over personal squabbles that have nothing to do with a forum's rules or guidelines. Even worse to lose a 12-year membership over one. Still it's the lesser evil -- preferable to watching an unmoderated site get overrun by trolls and spammers.
