Threads are rarely closed. What stumbler was referring to is shutting down threads as a forum of censorship. Shutting them down for flaming or because a member was upset by the content or someone treated them mean, etc. On very rare occasions a thread will be locked or deleted but it's a very particular set of circumstances.

For all intense and purposes, threads are not locked/deleted. There are exceptions but it's best if all operate under the notion that if you say something stupid then that stupid thing will remain for all to see once you miss the 10 minute edit window. See my signature for evidence of this.

I think most of it is on one of the sticky threads at the top of the front page where Deidre79 unleashed all kinds of venom at the mods because they didn't delete her posts where she was hurling racial slurs at people and at the same time denying she was a racist. The posts came back to haunt her as proof and Deidre went ballistic.

I would disagree for several reasons including

1. The signature was there for a long time and if it was a problem I am sure that he would have been asked to change it as a Mod.
2. The words in the signature were specifically directed at him.
3. I think that the Mods should be able to take part freely in the Forum, not just as Mods.
4. I don't see why the Mods should have to set an example on an adult Forum.

Just my opinion which is worth exactly what you paid.

Fascinating. If I were more inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt, I might be more willing to interpret her actions as manifestations of regret regarding her more outrageous, out-of-control tirades. But I'm sure it was just an attempt on her part to cover her tracks and make her denials of racism marginally more credible.
