I would have been against the ban a few days ago, if it had happened when I posted this:

I have since changed my mind. Perhaps after a time I will come to regret my current opinion, but I can't foresee any sequence of events that would lead me to.

 

I guess the question is, can anyone remember a similar banning? I.E., not one for being a kid or spammer or kiddy porn?

I fully expect to be blamed for this banning, given the timing, and so I won't bother trying to defend myself and say I had nothing to do with nophest's decision. I will simply say that I had nothing to do with it and you can believe me or not.

One thing I want to make abundantly clear is that Deidre is not being banned for any of her personal views or opinions concerning any political, social or economic issue.

She is not being banned for flaming other members just as other members are not banned for flaming.

If flaming got you banned, baller16 never would have made it to his first 2000 posts. Yet he is still free to come and go as he pleases.

She is not being banned because she had disagreements with myself this last week or any other mod for the last two years.

She is not being banned because she has had disagreements with nophest in this thread or at any other time in the past regarding how he chooses to run this forum.

Nophest is so relaxed regarding individual behavior on this forum (as long as one stays within the spamming/picture rules) as to almost be annoying. He doesn't care how many socks one person has, he doesn't care what those socks get up to, as long as they aren't spamming, and he certainly doesn't care if you like Obama or not.

Deidre is being banned because her constant cries of abuse and mistreatment at the hands of the mods are stirring up a lot of shit that he doesn't want to deal with. The mods as regular forum members have biases and opinions and personal feelings towards other members just as every single one of you do. And we are free to have those views. We do not have to bite our tongue when participating in discussions here. If you want silent but deadly mods, I suggest you go to another forum.

Deidre has been screaming of mod mistreatment for as far back as I can remember and has never once been able to validate any claim. Her constant accusations do undercut the sort of calm that exists in GD where, even when there are heated arguments and vicious insults, people do not fear retribution from upper management. In just a few short days since my addition to the mod team was announced, Deidre has instigated a firestorm and this time appears to have bitten off more than she can chew. The other mods and I were willing to weather the storm but this time nophest stepped in and decided to put an end to it.

You posters here, whether you like me or not or whether I like you, do not have to fear that any of your views will be censored. You are free to hold and express any political view. You are free to hold and express any socio-economic view. You are free to hold and express any view on the arts, entertainment, religion, sports, sex, drugs and rock & roll, water beds and birth control. You are free to hold and express any view on foreign relations, climate change, Glenn Beck, the U.S. Constitution, history, the art of feng shui, homeopathy, knuckle cracking, masturbation, race relations, ass fucking and Sunday Brunch with mom while ass-fucking grandma.

You are free to disagree with me or any other mod about any of the above topics and any and all of those not listed. You will not be censored.

This idea that Deidre is being banned because of her 'conservative views' is ridiculous.

nophest made it abundantly clear that if any mod can be shown to have a bias towards another member and mistreated that person by using the mod access that we have, he would ban them instantly. Be it me, piggit, chunky or ejls. He doesn't play favorites any more than we do. His business is the running of this website and Deidre is being banned because her constant accusations are making that more difficult.

Thank you for clarifying all of this. Truly, now that I know all of this it makes my decision to stick around much easier. The above explanation makes Diedre's expulsion from the forum much more logical and far more fair and even-handed.
