I couldn't discuss with any conviction the amount of traffic nophest has seen as regards deidre these last few days.

What I can say with conviction is that nophest is not an idiot. He had just appointed two new moderators to manage his site for him. Do you imagine he would do this and NOT monitor the goings-on in the first few weeks? Months? Of course he was watching. Of course he was taking notice of what was being said here.

Surely, you must recognize how this happened.

I'm sorry I threatened to abuse my mod access and reveal private information. It was a bad and tasteless joke and I should have been more sensitive to the worries of others who have had disagreements with me in the past and who feel that I should not be trusted with this position. While I agree that deidre's ban is not the result of breaking a stated rule, one simply cannot anticipate every situation and reduce to writing a rule against it.

 

Nor can one anticipate the stink that a simple action might cause.

 

I am sure that you will be missed by a great many people and I wish you well.

 

These are a standard set of rules that come with the vBulletin software.
They are (obviously) not the rules of this forum.

 

Perhaps it would have been a good idea to add a rule, announce it, and give everyone the opportunity to change their behavior.

Rules should be enforced, but banning should not be arbitrary. That is my two cents worth.

I was banned from Stormfront after two weeks because I praised the Jews while criticizing Hitler. If that had been against the rules of Stormfront, I would not have done it, but it was not.

Stormfront is a neo Nazi website that is run out of the United States. I joined as a lark, knowing that I would be banned eventually. I did not think it would be so soon.

What I did appreciate about Stormfront is that flaming and obscene words were prohibited. Many of the posters were surprisingly articulate and well informed, but the idea most had that Jews corrupt every nation they enter is nonsense.

And I don't think I understand your line of thinking on the "keep the flames burning" sentence. Are you suggesting that other members forced her hand when she accused Chunky and me of unfair practices a year ago? Or again a few months ago? Or again in the New Moderators thread? deidre loved to toss out these allegations and was neither shy about doing so nor encouraged to do so by others (unless it was done via PM).
