That's seriously messed up. I'm really scared of kids these days. It's bullying, but taking it to the next level because on the internet, everyone thinks they have anonynmity so crowd-mind sets in. On the playground, maybe a couple of kids bully the others, but on the net, everyone can jump on board.

 

If you are of age for the sites you are going on then you can learn to adjust.


if you can figure out how to fix the "history" section of the internet they by all means go galabanting about. If not then you should be restricted until you can get a laptop of your own *shrugs* that's how I view it.

I know I was spoiled (not with freedoms, but with things) by my mother because she'd had so many miscarriages before me. And for the record a police spokesperson has said that the family have *not* received any death threats and are in no danger whatsoever. The point here is that everyone has a choice. I completely agree. I think I've mentioned before on this thread that I wasn't allowed unrestricted access to the internet until I bought my own laptop, and by that age I knew what the consequences could be if I'd have done stuff like this girl has. The sites she's visiting have t&c that forbid her to be a part of the community, so again none of this is anyone's fault but her own...

I think to prevent things like this happening again (you *know* another girl is creating more youtube hate vids and flashing her non-tits right as we speak) minimum ages for websites should be raised and it should be moderated better. You shouldn't be able to post youtube videos, get a facebook/myspace/bebo or anything similar until you're 16. By that age you've got at least a simple understanding that once you've posted something on the internet it's out there forever and can't be taken back.

Allowing an 11 year old to do what she did is negligent on the part of the parents.

I didn't completely get my freedom till later in my teens. The restrictions placed on the internet by parents really helped and even i learned a lot from the web since little thanks to them i was more careful.

I know, i wish there are better restrictions and the child safety law on the internet be raised. Then again more people should be honest and not fake their age too. Yeah, I watched her segment on youtube today (UK here) and was pmsl. Sounded like crap to me. I know my brother fakes his age to see his favourite metal videos on youtube (and, much as I hate to admit that my baby bro probably watches it, porn as well) but as a mature 16 year old with a good head on his shoulders, I can't really object. I did the same at his age.

Everyone of the ages maybe 11-17 (11-20 in America where the drinking age is stupidly high) wants to be older than they are, and until this is changed people will always access websites and services they're not legally allowed to. I can't see how to change this though.
