  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

There doesn't seem to be any real consensus about this, I've heard it a lot of different ways. The way I use them is that a nerd has extensive knowledge of a useful or academic subject while a geek simply has interest and knowledge of some subject considered to be outside the norm anime, fantasy literature, sci-fi, etc. The two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

Normally I don't think about them much anymore either, the comment about being cool just kind of set it off.

As for the virtual boy, have you ever seen the g4 x-play Saw parody? Hilarious.

Also good is the Emperor at the employment agency skit.

My nerd level is higher than everyone's! I memorized every pokemon theme song. I beat every available Final Fantasy game 100%. I Graduated high school at the age of 16 with a 4.0 GPA (got 4.0 in college as well). I am the leader of every guild in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I collect Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I love Star Wars. I can name every pokemon in order, along with their stats. Need I go on?

    LOL

I'm working on paying those off for my BA in psychology. Then I'm divided on whether to move out or finish a masters degree first. I'll probably go for moving out if I can find a room mate to split expenses with.

It actually only means you either have more free time, or you're more specialized or a bit of both.

I've watched dozens of different anime. I've gotten 100% completion in any of the Final Fantasies I cared about, in fact in probably about 80% or better of any of the dozens of video games I've liked (I probably even have a world record time for the challenge "Nice Threads" in the game Time Splitters 2 at between 2min. 20sec. and 2min. 30sec. par being something like 10min. for a gold rank). I've defeated emerald and ruby weapons with only Cloud, and defeated Hitoshura and Satan in Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 respectively. They're acknowledged as two of the most difficult boss fights, optional or otherwise, (in this case optional) in any RPG ever. I started video games on the Atari 2600 and the Sega Master System and DOs/Windows 3.1 on the PC. I role play, both table top and live action, in at least a half-dozen different systems. I finished college with a 3.6 GPA, after a rough start, while dealing with crippling anxiety issues, and without ever studying for a single test beyond a once through of the material. I read sci-fi and fantasy novels as well as comics, manga, and graphic novels. I enjoy both Star Trek and Star Wars plus several other sci-fi shows such as Star Gate SG-1. I play board games most people have never even heard of like The Arkham Horror. I'm a fan of H. P. Lovecraft, most people haven't ever even heard of him, but he's a nerd/geek staple. I read The Lord of the Rings in 3rd grade and was a fan of Doctor Who 15 years ago.

I could probably go on if I really wanted to spend the time on it, and I still wouldn't say I'm the biggest nerd/geek possible.

Oh man, it looks as if there's a nerd-off going on in this thread.

It's true that once someone's a nerd, they often times branch out past High-School.

I just wished I had done more when I was younger and still in school. Would have been a lot more entertaining. Go and be nerdy while you still have freedom and spare money.

Someday you'll wish you'd learned about your personal interests before graduation.

It's hard to list individual episodes because few people care enough to learn titles, I only know maybe a dozen by name, excluding the treehouse of horror series. so after looking some up: Homer the Vigilante, Treehouse of Horror 5, Bart Sells His Soul, Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace part of ToH 6, You Only Move Twice, The City of New York Vs. Homer Simpson, This Little Wiggy, Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner, E-I-E-I-(annoyed grunt), Missionary Impossible, maybe I'll list some more later.

Not so much a nerd off, I was just using myself to point out that there is far more out there than the somewhat narrow list Dude guy had. He's really devoted to those things he is interested in, but for me the greater variety of experiences is more rewarding. I also don't go so far in depth with everything that catches my fancy, for instance I will never learn Klingon.

Fortunately, I am young with relatively few responsibilities and I know the types of things I'm interested in the last few things I've been pursuing have been anime since about sophomore year of high school, Though I had dabbled before I finally found a really good tabletop group partway through college, and in the past half year or so I've done some live action role playing.

Unfortunately that time is rapidly drawing to a close as I begin working and prepare to leave home. Though at least I know myself well enough to know that I can live simply in other ways to be able to put more time and money towards my interests while still taking care of those responsibilities.

Oh, Hitoshura, don't worry so much about the building responsibilities of being an adult. You'll more than likely find time to pursue or even grow your talents and hobbies.

And, the older you get, the more money you make! I've never had more abilities in getting nerdy as now that I've been graduated and out of the house for years.

I'm sure you're right. Mostly it's just a bit of a shock to be jumping into work and having that many fewer hours to myself each week. I'll be glad to be out of my parent's house and able to live my life on my terms when the time comes. It's also true that having more spending money will help to expand and pursue my interests, I'll be able to travel or attend conventions for example.

It's all Greek to me, but then I've never liked math and didn't pursue the physical sciences like physics or chemistry all that deeply. I know psychological theory really well and have a more than decent knowledge of sociology. Neither of which help in the job market at the bachelor's level, so more than likely in the next couple of years I'll be back in school.

Yeah, I'm the same as hito. I hate math and suck at the exact sciences so I stick with the social sciences. I'm majoring (sorta) in psychology, sociology and philosophy. I'll never be a psychologist cuz I'd to take a statistics class which involves too many numbers for my liking. Clinical therapy, here I come!

Actually, statistics isn't so bad, all you have to know is some basic algebra, a few terms, and where to plug numbers into the formulas. I easily passed with an A. I had to take statistics for a BA in psychology in my program.

That's why you take the course to learn them. You should already know how to do basic algebra.

I used to. I haven't had to take math since high school and I REALLY like it that way.
